Remember this is against UTM so I already put it into consideration.

Simms played decent tonight. He threw some balls that should have been caught but all will come together. I could see the Vols winning 7 games this year.

Bray looked like a dear in headlights but he will be a good quarterback.

Poole ran the ball really well tonight. If the line plays every game like tonight he could get 1,000. Oku and Neal ran the ball good as well. The backfield looks good for the next couple of years.

The receivers played decent tonight. Stocker missed a couple of balls but he will be ok. Great run and catch by D Mo. He made a nice catch going into the wall. The ref missed that one. Rodgers looks like a NFL receiver. He made a nice block.

The line looked okay but not as good as expected. They didn't really push their line back as I thought they would. Oregon will give them a fit next week.

The dl was stout but it was UTM.

Johnson came to play ball tonight. Having Nick back is huge. Thompson seemed comfortable out there.

Teague seems like a better fit at corner. I it was a great move. Jackson played well. Wagner had some big hits and a nice snag that he took to the house. Seems like we have two physical safties. Did anyone see Brewer play?

Cunningham had some decent punts but I hope there is someone else on that team that can kick it past the 15 cause it will be hard to stop a team when they start on the 35 every series. Lincoln seems healthy. That might be big going down the road. Hopefully his confidence is up.

Can we get a punt returner out there?

Hope Jones hand isnt broken because he is Simms guy.

Wilcox is a great dc. He is a major upgrade over Monte. He will keep the Vols in every game this year.

I feel better after watching Fla play. Neyland will be Brantleys 1st road game. I hope he is ready for some noise.

I'm worried about UK this year but then I realize they will find away to blow the game.

Ut will be better than people think. I just hope the oline stays healthy.

Up next Oregon.

Good report...however, I think we are a little premature proclaiming Justin Wilcox greater than Monte...just saying...

Monte didn't do anything to impress me last year...I think Wilcox will end up being a better D coordinator (at the college level) IMO

Rajiian Neal impressed me the most. He has a nice burst into 2nd gear. Dooley deserves kudos for turning that kid.

Oku started the 2nd half didn't he. and Sims had trouble geting stocker the ball, over thrown a bunch.

That is a fair summary, Zasnow.

Reaching .500 will depend heavily upon your second to last line... whether or not the Oline (and the Dline) stays healthy.

Defense looked real good. Grade-A
Special teams looked better than its looked in years. Grade-B-
Offense is young and will improve.Grade-C

What impressed me is this team has ben coached the basics and small things that make a difference between winning or losing a close game.

We will learn more next week for sure. With the fans at home we have a chance aginst Oregon.:dance2::dance2::popcorn:

Fair assessment. Overall, a good win.

Listened to the radio broadcast while watching the game via internet, and I believe someone mentioned Palardy might have overdone it a bit in Fall practice. No reason to panic, but my impression was that was the reason he wasn't on the field tonight.

Didn't see the KY game, but I am not as concerned. I believe UT will be ready. UK jumped out early, but ended up winning by a TD over a Louisville team that went 4-8 last year.

As for OR, my biggest concern is their offense, which returned all OL and a very dangerous RB. If our DL can cause some disruption inside and provide decent containment, OR should put the ball in the air. And their WRs are supposedly not their strong point.

Apparently their defense is good, but it sounds like they may have some weaknesses on their DL according to preseason reports. I suspect the Vols faced stronger Ds last year and will again this Fall.

Some potentially good news. Apparently the early forecast is for a warmer and more humid day next Saturday. And, after the turnout for the UTM game, I expect a rowdy crowd in Neyland when the Ducks arrive.

Im still trying to adjust to the fact we are watching UK closely as to what kind of team they have in week one. *sigh*

I think it's tough to deduce very much from this game. A couple of things of note though; RB's looked good. QB's, not so much. Everything else - hard to tell, Hamilton is afraid to play real competition.

As far as the fans go, we have far too many people that come to games just to be there and get mad if anyone around them expresses emotion of any type. I understand not wanting to be around the drunk guy that's being an ass, but these little old ladies are killing me.
