UTC's David Blackburn says no official contact with UT on job

Minter had a .457 winning percentage. Dantonio at .517. Little bit more than a "7-5 over 5-7" number game, but TO EACH THEIR OWN I guess. :)

Oh? So he got ANOTHER victory off Dantonio's turnaround? Even more awesomer!

Tim Murphy went 17-37 or .314 (pre Minter)

Maybe you got confused on who turned around what. :eek:lol:

For winning percentage sakes. Kelly was .850 :)
Jones followed that with .621

agreed. but even the ones we offered, muschamp comes to mind, he didn't sign with FL a year later for all that much a different price than was offered to him from us? or am i remembering that wrong?

We didn't view Muschamp as being worth that. We turned him down. Florida thought he was worth that.

Fiction...and spin. LSU reportedly offered him less than the 6.5 mil they offered Fisher...which made sense. But it never got to the point of counter offers. They offered him as much as he eventually received from Texas but set a deadline for him to accept. This was before the opening at Texas even existed. Soon as it did LSU knew they wouldn't get him. The bull about a "bidding war" came from Alleva...this was never about dollar figures, just preference.

What I heard was Herman and LSU had an agreement in principal. Texas called Herman and at that point Herman let LSU know he wanted to hear what Texas had to say. LSU told him to screw off we got a guy here that knows he wants to be here. they hired Orgeron..

Ok. On that note, why was Kelly only able to win 4 games in his first season taking over for DeBord at CMU? 6 games the next? And finish with 9 wins in his final season there for a record of 19-16? Why didn't he just go ahead and win 10 games that first season like he did at Cincy?
Because he had to do the TURNAROUND himself! :w00t:

For winning percentage sakes AT CMU Kelly was .542 :)
Jones followed that with .675 :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

I 'll give you one thing you held out longer than most before you punted. :eek:lol:

And Jones is now on a downward trend following Kelly.

No need to punt when you're crossing the goal line. :td:

Did Jones follow Kelly at CMU before Cinci?

Do you know what a TREND is? It implies CONTINUITY. They're running totally unconnected programs! And Kelly won 4 GAMES this year! He has to TURNAROUND his OWN PROGRAM! :w00t: He lost 8 games! He sucks!

Brian Kelly also took ND to the title game and Cincinnati to an undefeated regular season for all of his flaws. If Butch Jones is our shining example of a coach with a great resume then we are in more trouble than I thought

A trend?

Like the one that was intact with Jones following Kelly to CMU (where Jones had a better winning percentage) and then to Cinci (where Kelly had the better winning percentage) "trending"! and was then broken after Kelly went Catlic and Jones went hillbilly?

Im glad you didn't miss my point after the botched punt.

Charlie Wies had ND turned around with those 6 and 7 win seasons after going 3-9.

Credit where its due.

I just realized Tennessee was Butch's first rebuild job.

Yeah a trend doesn't continue when a coach outperforms another at one stop and not the other. Need more common examples. As is...in present tense, as we speak Butch won twice as many games as Kelly and Kelly lost twice as many games as Butch. :)

And I showed you how Kelly can't take over a non-bowl program and win more than 4 games, but took the program Dantonio TURNED AROUND and won 10!

Butchna, in your opinion, who do you see as a better football coach...Brian or Butch. Not from a moral perspective, but only on the field?
