Y'all seem to be a very sensitive bunch. Quite prone to feeling bad for yourselves and lashing out at anyone that dares to think that they might be able to be competitive with you.

I had heard a lot of good things about UT fans. So far, to be honest, you are less like aTm and Wiscy and Nebraska fans and more like Kansas State fans.

UT fans treat opposing fans well on gameday, but you shouldn't expect that same treatment when you come on a message board looking for arguments.

I am sorry if my prediction of a ccompetitive game has left you all feeling butthurt and sad.

It is nothing personal against the vols. It is just based on similar game situations over the past several years.

I will work on being less audacious in the future.

Didn't say you won't be competitive. I actually understand why the betting lines might be where they currently are. Just getting a little tired of a fan from a school that has no history and no tradition to speak of, and virtually nothing to "crow" about, taking shots at one of the winningest program's in major college history. Debating and having a little good-natured back and forth is one thing....your "keeping it real" crap is another. Seemed like you needed a little perspective.

You know, I think I'm viewed as one of the most tolerant of opponent visitors on VN. Sometimes, I suspect to the chagrin of some of my VN mates. I enjoyed the Duck fans here in the past who were rather courteous. Even when some of our jackasses acted like, well. . .jackasses. Now, when you go into someone else's board and consistently use a rusty ax to chip at their shins, sooner or later you find the trouble you're looking for. We're reputed to even eat our own, so when you post stuff like you've been posting you invoke a cowboy rule: "Ef you'un teech ah critter tuh be meen, don be surprised ef et lurns the lessin well."

My advice? Well, as I see it, four choices.

1. Disengage immediately from those you've pissed off. We got an ignore feature here. Then talk football with those you haven't pissed off. Take a cue from past Duck visitors and talk about your players, maybe their spring work, maybe your gameday traditions. And ignore posts from people who will inevitably insist on being jackasses even to nice posts from anybody, including fellow VN'ers.

2. Leave and stay gone. It is our board after all.

3. Just stop posting stuff that seems combative and post stuff closer to what I said in number 1 above.

4. Just lurk and don't post.

Freak is tolerant to a fault and certainly far more than other moderators or board owners I've ever encountered. But at some point if you tick off enough regulars, you're gone. Try being more friendly so as not to provoke the gone part. And yes, you'll get away with a lot before he finally pulls the plug. I'm trying to be helpful here, man.

I don't think we're over-sensitive at all. I think, if read by non-partial observers, your repeated use of phrases such as "6 seasons mired in mediocrity", as a visitor to our site, would paint you more as a troll than us as hypersensitive.

No. If you read what we actually post instead of just finding opportunities to be insulting, you will see that we don't talk like we are Bama, UGA, LSU. We post honestly that we don't and wouldn't expect to beat those teams (besides UGA, since they have been down). We are just saying that it won't take a Bama, LSU, or UGA to handle your WAC Utes.


And it won't.

And FWIW, you do realize that USU had a stretch of 8 seasons ending in '10 where you didn't win more than 4 games in a season, right? So just to "keep it real"... you probably need to consider that UT does have talented but young players right now. I believe the mismatch between UT's WR's and your DB's will shock you.
