Utah smoked Alabama!
Ole Miss beat Florida in the Swamp!

UT has talent greater than both Utah and Ole Miss!

Yet...there are nay sayers that have given Alabama and Florida the wins over UT. I say we can beat em and beat em both this year. It's not impossible.

There is a change in culture now. Phil Fulmer use to coach the team to play its best as the underdog (even as underdogs we would get smoked). We have a coaching staff that has won a Super Bowl, MULTIPLE National Chamionships, NFC Championships, SEC championships, PAC 10 conference Championships, Big East, Big 10. We have a staff that has been to the mountain, and then been back up to the mountain, and then been back up to the mountain. We have a staff that have coached up Cadillac Williams, Ronnie Brown, Reggie Bush, Lendale White, Matt Leinhart, Warren Sapp, Drew Brees, and many others...some of the best talent playing today in the NFL, and some of the best college football players to play in the modern era. We have the best damn coaching staff in America.

Come on guys have some faith. We can do better than four or five losses. Our coashing staff I am SURE is expecting more than that.

We still have players that were hailed as some of the best recruits in the country. They were never coached up. We might not have the depth that FLorida has. But if we get the chemistry right, the attitudes right, the coaching right, the intensity right...yes, we can do very well.

If lowly Utah can beat Alabama, if scrummy Ole Miss can beat the defending National Champions in the Swamp..hell if lowly Wyoming and UCLA can beat a once proud SEC team. Who is to say that our team can't turn it around in a year? New Era guys requires New Thinking. :dance2:

we will not beat them both.... Fla has 11 returning D starters from a national championship squad... a heisman trophy winner at QB... and plenty of motivation they will beat us this year although i think it will be a little closer this year

It will take years for this staff to bring in enough talent to play Florida straight up

you've convinced me.

then get ready to be disappointed.... i know its almost sacreligous to say but look at alabama...

they had a similar "attitude change" when saban came in the first year they went 7-5 then they came on the following year and hit it big... the huge swing in the W/L record doesn't come overnight especially not with JC at the helm come on now be realistic

Dont get me wrong i dont expect to only get 5 wins again, but im not expecting that total to double either

i'm not sayin its impossible i'm sayin we're not hittin 10 wins at least not in the regular season this year..... maybe and its a HUGE maybe we could get to nine+a bowl win but like i said in the other thread my prediction is an 8-4 regular season

ask reliable posters like rex, freak, and any other poster that has been right time and time again we will not have a 10 win regular season after a 5 win year its just not logical to expect that.... hope for it maybe.... expect it..... no

I can think of three losses last year that could've easily been wins, for whatever reasons: UCLA, Auburn, and Wyoming. That makes us an 8-4, bowl eligible team that still would've looked like sh!t in the process. Having that said, it will all come down to what the rest of the SEC does. If the SEC is top heavy like it was last year, I think we have a legit shot at 9-3 or 10-2. It will all come full-circle eventually.

I like the optimism, but this isn't a factual post. We won't beat UF or Bama this year.

You're probably right. I forgot about having JC as our QB.......

oh well, back to reality...:cray:

i go into every season convinced that the vols will win every game...which makes it even more painful when they don't

Actually, they went 6-6 in regular season and then won their bowl game.

Utah and Ole Miss had something that we don't.

A competent QB. Maybe Crompton will turn it around now that the Clawfense is gone but I will wait and see before I plan the victory parade.

I'm just hoping to be competitive again this year against Florida and Bama. With some breaks, lack of mistakes and a motivated team, a win in either of those games is possible, but not likely this year.

We have a special teams coach this year. What a novel concept. Improvements all around
