Didn't BJ have 2 or 3 back to back top 5 classes?I can’t believe we landed this kid, this is insane the run we are on. I remember a poster saying he missed Butch Jones recruiting back in May

It’s almost like a lot of the BS with investigations, penalties, and a record of being a dumpster fire was getting in the way of recruiting and suddenly a lot of that is out of the way. After this and beating out Texas's higher offer for Rouse, I don't want to hear anything about this staff's recruiting efforts. All the distractions this offseason, and they just keep stocking the cupboards with better players.
Fair enough. But there were also plenty of instances of getting open…just like in 2023. However, everyone can always get better.I think the majority of people who aren’t all-in on Pope are more concerned about the on-field production. Clearly, he’s getting guys on campus, now he needs to develop them and showcase them. WR play last year was real bad. Nico didn’t help in many cases, but it isnt all on him, either. Lots of drops, lots of instances of not getting open. We just need a harmonious mix of decent QB play and decent WR play in terms of routes and hands, and Heupel will scheme them open. Make the throw, make the catch. Easy for me to say, I guess.
His dad:Fun fact: father Ben Moa played college ball at Utah, two years with the Miami Dolphins and was 5-2 in the UFC and now fights in the BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship). His nickname is the TONGAN NIGHTMARE.
From 2016, Ben Moa has been able to secure all of his mixed martial arts wins via T/KO, and not a single fight of his has gone the distance. With that entertaining, fan-friendly style, the Ogden, Utah based power-puncher is bound to do good things in the Squared Circle! You can expect calculated pressure and a willingness to mix brawling and a more technical approach to dominate his opponent. He is an excellent counter striker that will utilize his footwork and mix in a higher than average fight IQ while relying on his solid chin to find the W on any given night.
When not knocking dudes out, he can be found doing real estate.View attachment 760079

Yeah but Tackle is way less of a need than athletic LBs and a guy who can play both safety and wr at an elite level. The coaches are so good at recognizing deficiencies in the team and prioritizing those needs with immediate help. You saw it when they ponied up for Lance Heard and Jermod McCoy when LT and CB were our biggest needs, you saw it when they outbid Ohio St and Nebraska for David sanders, and you're seeing it now when they are STACKING elite offensive playmakers/ athletes. We're in the good ole days.Sounds like we had the opposite happen on Blair as well. Works both ways
Yeah it's almost as if having less scholarships, less evaluation time, less official visits, less unofficial visits, and less time allowed to communicate with recruits than every other school we're recruiting against may have had some effect on our overall recruiting rankings. I don't know, could be crazy. It’s almost like a lot of the BS with investigations, penalties, and a record of being a dumpster fire was getting in the way of recruiting and suddenly a lot of that is out of the way.
You’re absolutely right. There’s no way any blame should ever be directed at a wide receiver when he drops a pass. That is clearly 100% the fault of the wide receiver coach standing on the sideline.This. I’m not concerned about Pope’s recruiting. I’ve been skeptical of his development. I don’t think our WRs have improved much under him. If they have, the production certainly doesn’t tell the story. He has a chance to get me back on board this year, but if the WRs continue to drop passes there really isn’t anyone else to blame.
i wondered if he know OSP, and if St Pruex did any recruiting for us???Fun fact: father Ben Moa played college ball at Utah, two years with the Miami Dolphins and was 5-2 in the UFC and now fights in the BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship). His nickname is the TONGAN NIGHTMARE.

Will be way more enjoyable seeing this guy dressed out in Vols gear as opposed to Fat Nic sporting his beach towel to absorb the moisture from his sweat drenched jersey he got from walking back from the concession standFun fact: father Ben Moa played college ball at Utah, two years with the Miami Dolphins and was 5-2 in the UFC and now fights in the BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship). The primary problem with our WR corp has been that our least talented receivers were the ones that were actually playing the majority of the snaps over the last couple of years because they had been in the system the longest and knew the offense the best. That is no longer the case. The most talented players will be on the field. If an entire position group has the same issue, you can’t absolve the position coach and be like “He doesn’t play the position. It’s not his fault!”
It’s the job of the position coach to teach the fundamentals. Pope still has an opportunity to improve how he develops his players. He’s young. But he is absolutely responsible for how the receivers perform and to say otherwise is stupid.
