the team wins the turnover margin and special teams statistically against UF. Ok, I am ready for all of the crack smoking comments, etc.. But, numbers don't lie.

UT was pretty even in every category last year vs UF, except turnovers. UT gives UF a TD by turning it over on their own 20. UT allows a punt return for a TD. And, UT fails to score twice by turning it over inside UF's 20.

As bad as UT was on offense last year. And, considering we had 3rd and Chavis. UT's offensive numbers were pretty even with UF. UT even had more total yards!!! UT does have a chance to win in Gainesville THIS YEAR!!! Yes, we just played WKU to rack up 657 yards of total offense. But, the UT offense will be much improved this year. And, the defense will be improved too. The first team D gave up 9 yards and no first downs in the first half, one first down by penalty. UF won big last year because of a 3-0 turnover margin and special teams. Again, numbers don't lie!!!!!!! :)

Those numbers...really emphasize how important protecting the ball and special teams are. They are really much much closer than I thought. Very intriguing post.

I am so sick of these Gator threads but this has been my view all along. If we have zero turnovers (one if it is relatively meaningless) and give up zero huge special team plays we should be in good shape. I was thinking if we play flawless and Florida makes a couple bonehead plays (pick 6, etc.) we could win. Basically UT has to play flawless and the Gators have to make some game changing mistakes. It is football, thats why they play the games, we can win.

That game was close in the sense that the two teams were on the same field. That was about it. Florida clearly stuck the playbook in their back pocket once they got the 17 point lead halfway through the first quarter.

I agree totally. But, It isn't my job to keep the team focused on the task at hand. UT will not overlook UCLA!!! Lane, Orgeron, Monte, etc... will not let it happen. I am just putting out some interesting stats from last year. I was shocked we had more passing yards and more total yards!!! Our run game will be much improved this year.

I really want UT to win, but I believe if the team shows up and plays with intensity and no quit attitude, even if we lose by a few points, I could live with that.

If the players & coaching staff were looking ahead we'd have issues, but I don't think that excited fans looking past UCLA to UF will affect the outcome of the game this Saturday. :p

Yes it didnt look very close, but honestly, if you look at those numbers its not that bad. I have a hard time believing that Urban Meyer would stop just after the first quarter. Either way, the vaunted Gators really didnt blow us out statistically, which no matter the circumstances, is a plus in my mind. Makes you wonder if we hadn't fumbled what might have been.. :question:

The Game is played on the field. The Vols. certainly have a chance against anyone they play. Anything can happen. I want give up until they give up. Go Vols.
