UT vs Xavier

By "earned" I meant that he created himself. Similar to how Brian Williams had 16 points for us against WKU... people had nice passes to him and he was wide open under the basket for an easy lay in.

JP had quite a few of those.

Nice passes or not - he caught them. Something you don't see at TN from a 5 player.

If Chism catches it he has a hard time finishing.

Major couldn't catch a cold at Walmart.

It looks like BW has really good hands and a nice shooting touch (missed a couple tonight though), and that will score a lot of points for him in the future

He isn't catching the same types of passes a 5 gets. The ones I'm talking about, the easy twos that got him an extra 6 or so, aren't with someone leaning on his back.

Either way - he played out of his mind in the first half. Everyone gets those easy points every once and awhile and tonight was JP's night.

Analysis

Ramar-Could he finally be breaking out, I loved seeing him diving out on the court there at the end. He made some great defensive plays

Chris-Started off hot, then couldn't throw it in the ocean.

JuJuan-Streaky and inconsistent, this wasn't one of his hot nights

Wayne-Please Wayne, NEVER shoot another 3. Please Wayne

Brian-Was in foul trouble througout the day

Tyler-Struggled early on, but made some great plays at the end

Jordan- Nothing special, but is still a better option at point than Ramar right now

JP-23 points made a great steal early and a good dunk. He can be a good spark coming off of the bench this season

Ryan-He missed some FT's today, but contributed more than he has for the most part of the year

Over all, I really believe in my heart of hearts that this team hit a turning point starting with the final 4 minutes today. I think they can take something away from this and it will really help them with their confidence once they get into conference play.

Wow. I didn't care to post because it seemed like the Xavier of the past couple of years. Play real well against a top team in the country and then lose it in the last few minutes of the game. It was almost painful to watch the last little bit. So sorry that I didn't come straight back to put in my two cents.

Tenn. has a solid team and you guys should go far this year. It was fun to watch your team play and even though I hate Bruce (all of Xavier Nation does...) I even enjoyed watching him coach some. Xavier played great from the last ten minutes in the first half and the first 15 minutes in the second. Dumb turnovers killed us in the end. I think we showed the country though that we're not some mid-major to look past and in that regard, I was proud of how Xavier played. Of course, I would have loved to see a W at the end though.

Congrats to your team. They played their hearts out and when all of Cintas was on their feet screaming and shouting, they kept things under control and made smart plays and more often than not, ended up with points. Good luck this season.

Xavier gave us all we wanted, you are gracious in defeat. Good luck for the season, we may meet again.
