UT vs Xavier

ukvols,

Best of luck. There are a couple scalpers around Cintas Center, I suggest up near the old, worn down factory, right where Xavier's parking lot beings on Cleneay. There's usually one or two fellas there. Otherwise, I know students were turned down for tickets the same day they were giving them out, which is rare for a Xavier game. Students usually will fill games up by the end of the week, a couple days before the game, but the student section filled up fast and from my understanding is that it's been sold out.

Go on Musketeermadness. Sometimes we're willing to part, though, it's kind of rough for them to part with a ticket to the "enemy". Best of luck though.

Bassmanbruno,
I was hoping you were not comparing Xavier to LBSU. I would hope and pray that the rest of the country knew we were a little bit above their program (nothing against LBSU though).

I decided to join this board for the sake of providing some more information on Cincinnati as a city and Xavier as a team. I figured this isn't such a problem seeing as a couple of your fans have joined our discussions over on MM (Musketeer Madness:* Xavier Men's & Women's Basketball).

As a student, I'm discovering more and more places to eat. Yes, Mont. Inn and Graeters are AMAZING places to grab a bite. Larosa's makes some fantastic pizza as well. If you're feeling for a great Scottish place to eat, I highly recommend Nicohlson's (I think that's how you spell it). The bar, is of course, stocked full of great drinks and the food, while a bit pricey (at least for a college stud like myself :cool2: ), is pretty darn good.

As for basketball, I'm certianly looking forward to seeing both our teams face off. While most of Xavier Nation was upset when Tenn. backed out of the contract, I think we're happy about how it's taking place now. Both teams are solid and full of talent, which promises to bring an exciting game to us fans. Xavier has six players who average double-figures and it's shown that in any given night, any one of them can go off and knock down severla big shots. Burrell will probably guard Lofton, seeing as he's our best lock-down defender and shut down Indiana's Eric Gordon. With Lofton apparently pulling himself out of his slump as of late, and looking for a breakout game, I def. think that this is going to be the key match-up.

We lost a pretty bad game to ASU, and as a fan, that was certainly tough to watch. We let things get away, and we were coming off a game against our rival, Cincinnati. The UC game is considered one of the better rivalries in the country and always takes a toll on the team. Not to mention the cross-country flight out to Tempe and it's understandable for a slump against the Sun Devils. Hopefully Xavier will be able to show their true talent and skill tomorrow against you all. Of course I'm rooting for Xavier to win, and I'll be there, probably quite intoxicated, and losing my voice in an effort to help aide my beloved Muskies. However, I do hope for a good game one way or another and that it's close (Of course, if Xavier manages to win by 20, I won't complain either. Haha).

Look forward to seeing some of you there.

Go X!
Welcome to the board.

Thanks for the welcome from several of you. Can't promise I'll be around all that much, but I may come in to say hello, give you my two cents, and of course, let you know how Xavier basketball is doing. I'll be honest, my dad lived in Little Rock, so Arkansas is my SEC team. Just grew up that way. But I did apply to UT and got in! Too bad it was an age and a half away from home otherwise I might have went.

Good to be here though. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I am unable to go to the game today as I had planned. Hat is right about The Precinct, fantastic steaks in an old school upscale restaurant.

I was more concerned about Xavier until they lost some games they shouldn't have.

Should be a tough game. Xavier has had this one circled on their schedule.

I'm worried about Xavier putting up easy points after beating the press - ala Lavendar/Burrell. If X is successful with this UT could be in for a long game.

Sad thing is, I'm stuck at work and this place doesn't get ESPN. I'll have to be content with radio, I guess but would love to see this game.

Presses have had a history of failing against Xavier when Lavander has been in the game. Like I said, his ability to dribble around people along with our athletes, makes it very hard to press against us without giving up easy baskets. I look forward to seeing it though, seeing as UT is one of the top teams in the country and forcing turnovers off the inbound pass.

Not in the least. It was, is, and will be terrible. Obviously people like it, just not me.

A LOT of people think that it is too sweet. I like it. My father-in-law really likes Rendevous' sauce more than Montgomery Inn (and he is a Montgomery Inn fan from here in Cincinnati) because he finds it too sweet.

3:30 in the morning and I'm still awake and on here eventhough we're leaving in 4 hours to drive up to the game

Hope you can stay awake for the game.

I'm really looking forward to this one. I think it's going to be a hostile environment and I'm anxious to see how we respond.

I'm already wearing my Orange - though my wife stole the mock jersey I was wanting to wear. Oh well, at least she'll be in Orange and not blue....

I've already had La Rosa's, Montgomery Inn, and Graeters. So, I'm a bit behind on Skyline. I had PennStation in it's place yesterday, but I plan on hitting Skyline up tomorrow.

For once this season, I'll finally be at a game and not posting in this thread (no offense to the Nation, of course) during the game, so I thought that I would drop by now and give this thread the mandatory:

Let's Go Vols!!

I'm heading down to the Forum this morning as well. I'm planning to leave early so I can get home and ready for the UT game. Priorities man. Then I'm heading back down for the Griz game tonight.

Do yourselves a favor, if you plan on drinking. Get the 20 oz cups for $5 over the plastic bottles. And as for places to go before the game? Dana's, which is located jsut off Montgomery and Dana is kind of a pit, but we love it at Xavier. Great atmosphere. If you don't show up with your noses in the air and acting like you don't stink, then you'll be welcome company. They open at noon. I'll be there myself, knocking back a few pitchers with friends.

Ryan's Pub (now called the Sports Cafe) is located in the student center on campus. They have dollar blue beer there. They have a few tv's too, so you can watch the G-town/Memphis game there. Not a bad place.

Both places have pretty decent food. Ryan's is much more for alums and all. Whereas Dana's is more of a college bar. Either way, you can get pretty cheap drinks and it's close to campus.
