UT vs PENN ST. Who wins and why?

projected as first pick in NFL draft. You're comparing him to AINGE? How did UT do in their last matchup with IRISH?
You mean Rick Meyer(sp?)?

The Irish are very overrated this year and Quinn is too.

Like someone said, neither has done all that well against teams with a pulse.

Had Ainge played those other two games, he'd have had as many yards as Quinn even if he didn't pass for his average. His rating was higher... and all that against SEC defenses instead of the Armys and Stanfords of the college world.

but they were definitely in protect mode all second half, unlike the first half where they were constantly attacking our D. time management techniques to just chew away the clock
We must have watched different games. I saw #5 run all over them using the same plays as they stopped in the second half. They passed 9 times in the first half and 7 times in the second half. They ran that direct snap formation alot in the second half.

I think that what Chavis did in the second half probably helped UF design a stop for it.

UT wins b/c our running game will actually show its fangs for once against a good defense.

Coker,Hardesty and Foster will all be rested and 100% and our O line will block thier butts off. Ainge will play good enough and Meach will play solid with a Touchdown.

Defense will step up late and get a turnover to seal it.

UT 30
Penn ST 17

Tennessee will lead at halftime by 3 after playing horrible on defense and some offensive rust. Second half Tennessee blows it open with 2 TDs in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th to seal the deal.

Chavis also plays a 4-4 against 1 reciever 2 tight sets and clogs up PS's running game.

As a DIE HARD Gator, I have had trouble pulling for UT, UGa, etc. in bowls in the past. However, our conference is being trashed and I've had enough. The UT-PSU game provides the SEC an opportunity to put one Big Ten leg in the grave. Having them start 0-4 would be great. Go Vols! Send JoPa to a wonderful retirement. He deserves it.

The UF-OSU basketball game was the first dose but unfortunately the patient survived. The final dose to be delivered 1/8/07............

Arkansas's offensive line is probably the best one in the country. Penn State has a 1st round pick at tackle in Levi Brown, but absolutely nothing else.

nice analysis! What's do you have to say now? That SEC speed came in handy when the VOLS ran off the field at the end of the game. That ARKANSAS OL probably did look like the best in the country against your weakling DL,but they didn't look too hot against WISCONSIN.

Penn State went 8-4 in the Big Ten in an off year for the conference. They lost to every good team they played. Purdue who just got dismantled by Maryland was probably their best win. The Boilermakers along with 1AA Youngstown St were PSU's only wins against teams with a winning record. Their only other win against a bowl team was Minnesota who just lost to TTU to finish 6-7.

IMO, UT should win and it shouldn't be that close. They have the better players and at least as good in coaching (No consideration of the HC's)

PSU's defense benefited from a weak schedule. Their offense did nothing against anyone with a pulse.

Anything can happen in football... but Ainge should be able to rip their secondary and the running game should be better than you guys expect... if it is needed at all.

Just as a reminder, UT's defense grew up against Arkansas. They got raped in the first half but allowed only 3 points in the second. They effectively slowed Arkansas' running game in that half as well. PSU doesn't have a run game that compares to Arkansas. UGA would be somewhat closer but I don't think PSU is as good as the Dawgs either.

Put the VOLS in the no pulse category!

we will win. why? because we're better at football.

And what's your next stupid statement? I hope you saw 190LB #7 turn out the lights on SWAIN. Maybe the UT WR's are used to pattycake SEC football, because they sure heard the footsteps today. MEACH got a bad call on the OFF INTERFERENCE,but it really didn't matter because he dropped the ball anyhow. WIDE RECEIVER U ---A JOKE SEC SPEED--A JOKE SEC TOUGHNESS-A JOKE

WISCONSIN and PENN STATE or are you hanging your hats on the TEXAS TECH and MARYLAND wins. THREE IN A ROW for LIONS over VOLS and there has never been a UT- PSU game north of KNOXVILLE.

The most comparable team to UT that PSU played was Notre Dame, and the domers crushes the Lions.

I know you didn't just compare Notre Dame to Tennessee. We have beaten both TN and PSU by three touchdowns.
