I thought i would use this thread to make my first post. Bama guy here from Bham, but not one who'll just drop a "UT sux" and then run.
Legion Field used to be a great place and has many great memories for me, but has been neglected for too long. It is in Bham, not Fairfield, about 3 miles west of downtown and 65 and a mile south of 20/59. The neigborhood is indeed an armpit of a ghetto (it wasn't getto in that area when built though). UA played the 3 or 4 bigger games in Bham because until 1988, the capacity of LF was about 15,000 more than BDS. Auburn moved it's home game to campus as soon as the contract for the Iron Bowl in Bham expired in 1987. Bama renewed a contract for 10 more years and had agreeded to play either the Auburn game or Tennessee game in Bham (alt years) each year. That contract expired after the '98 season, so the Bama-UT game went back to Tucscaloosa in 1999 and the Iron Bowl was back in Tusc in 2000.
I haven't seen any Tennessee fans treated badly in Tuscsaloosa (in 2003 and 2007). And i must say that we were treated very well for both my trips to your place in 2002 and 2008 ( I can pick 'em, can't I) - even sat amongst UT students in section CC in '02.
That said watching a game in Tuscaloosa is 1000% better than what Legion Field had.
Looking forward to discussions with your guys in which we'll probably agree about almost nothing.
