It's disingenuous to act like the Texas team we beat is the group we see now. As for Kentucky, the last time I looked, West Virginia is at the top of by far the best conference in the country. Kentucky put the stop on them. Everyone is suddenly acting as if the Vols are the '76 Indiana or '90 UNLV team. Perspective, people, perspective.(bigdaddy @ Feb 6 said:other than Florida (which mopped the floor with KY jelly) who have they played. And more over, who have they beaten in any formidable fashion? Mind you UT has beaten number two twice and throttled Texas.
Well put Lawdog(lawgator1 @ Feb 6 said:I am really torn on this. While UT I think is a bit better than UK, UK's back is up against the wall. They need a big win and you guys would be it. With homecourt advantage they will be tough to beat.
Honestly, it would not surprise me to see either team come out and lay a whuppin' on the other. Somebody gets hot and scores a bundle. Going to be a fun game, I think.
I will tell you a few years back Florida went into Rupp ranked number one and flying high. That crowd erupted and Kentucky blew out the Gators by about 20. Florida was running in mud. The Gators did not recover that year at all. Mediocre from that point forward. It is a dangerous place for a team that can't take it. This is where Pearl earns his salary.

Arkansas got out to an 18 point lead at Rupp using the press, easily causing Rondo and Sparks to turn it over. ???(Vols4life @ Feb 6 said:The thing about this game is the UT presses and Kentucky loves being pressed just ask Florida Sparks beat their press by himself and if he gives the ball up to Rondo in the open court who will just kill UT defense....UT has not answer for Morris...Perry will be able to guard Bradshaw...Perry could have a huge game on the offensive end...Lofton will have Rondo on him where ever he goes and since Lofton cannot create his own shot it could be a long night for him...I'm taking UK and there defense,Rupp Arena, and Tubby to beat UT by 10 or more
Overall, Tubby respects this team. He admires their hard work and won't take us for granted. He knows it's going to be a battle.Smith said Watson, a senior from Las Vegas, "has been one of my favorite players since he's been in the league.
"He has the ability to play under control, he's long and he defends you. His assist-to-turnover ratio is one of the best in the conference (it's No. 2 behind teammate Dane Bradshaw), his demeanor on the court -- he never gets rattled -- and he's got the (second-)most steals in the SEC.''
Lofton, the sophomore from Maysville, Ky., was snubbed by the Wildcats, despite being a prep legend in the state.
"Chris has developed the complete game,'' Smith said. "He's not just shooting the ball, but defending as well.''
