UT ugliest SEC campus?

UT's campus is a lot better than it was a few years ago. It just hasn't changed with the times very much. The potential is there for a very beautiful campus, and I believe it will be that in a few more years. I actually like some of the older buildings, if they can be renovated like they did Ayers Hall. That building is very nice in case you haven't seen it yet. Make sure you do.

Ayres is the best looking building on campus now, inside and out. Haslam is nice too. The new Min Kao EE building is about to be the most advanced building on campus though.

Rivals MB seems to think so. Nearly everyone agreed on UT. I attend UT, and I've always been embarassed by how old and run down most of our buildings look. There is a renovation project planned for the entire campus almost, but as for now I think they aren't far off. Campus needs to develop a more "collegiate" feel imo.

Thoughts?

Out of their minds! Ut has a beautiful campus with all the historic buildings! Starkville is awful and Kentucky looks like a damn strip mall! Most surprising was Kentucky,to be in suck a pretty area the campus sucks! Rupp arena is a nasty looking building for sure! Auburn is not any nicer than UT either, Bama not too much look at now! Ole Miss is nice,or at least the grove is!!

Seems like the renovations are happening now. I was a freshman in 90. The parking lot at Hess to the right front was gravel and Tom black track was a great place to play football. The intermural fields were dirt. The bubble was cool and Hyper was fun. I went to the Hess reunion last September and took a tour of the "new Hess hall" equiped with air conditioning. Improving a little at a time lol! GBO!!!

I think they are going to start tearing down the UC in a year or so and building a new one. That will be sad in a way because that building brings back a lot of memories for a lot of students, and I don't think it even looks that bad now.

I think it looks fine. It doesn't even look that dated.... until you get into the elevators.

Don't see how in the world UT could be behind MSU. UT would be in the bottom half IMO, but MSU is dead last by a mile.

Yep. I remember when drop and add was in the UC. I had a computer science class in the UC. There were more people in that class than in my entire high school. I am sure it will be really nice after renovations.

Miss St
USCjr
KY
All of those are dumps in every description available. Starkville is awful. USCjr is in the middle of Columbia and it just seems to start and stop at random street corners. KY is just plain ugly in a pretty part of the country.

I highly disagree with everyone dumping on USC. The Horseshoe part of campus is absolutely gorgeous as is the area around the baseball stadium. Considering its smack dab in the middle of a major metropolitan area I feel like they do a good job of shielding the campus from the city. Same thing with Vandy.

It would also be nice if UT got rid of all the roads running through the campus and made them green-ways. There are plenty of beautiful and large campuses throughout the country that one can only drive on the perimeter of.
That is actually a good idea. People need to walk more anyways.

The campus is scattered all around town the town in general is a dump. When I go to a game there I feel lime I'm going to the scrapyard.

agreed... had to do nursing clinicals up there...best way to get around is parking and askin "is there a shuttle for that?" :mega_shok:

They chew nurses up and spit them out...but it is pretty good training.

As nice as Lex is, one would expect a much "classier" campus atmosphere.

Seriously. Columbia has one fun strip of bars and that's it. Is the stadium even in the same zip code? Hardly a "major metropolitan area". LOL

The riverside and the hill/Ayers Hall have to put UT above a few SEC campuses: UK, Miss St., USCe. I'm not that impressed with Auburn, either. Ole Miss and UGA are tough to argue. I'm not a fan of Gainesville, but I'd call it a push. Vandy doesn't even count. I have not been to Arkansas, but I can't imagine that it has any leg up on UT.
