I have been looking forward to watching this again today, but man... This team still has a lot of work to do. They did finally close it out in the 4th q in this one, but not after a large number of mistakes (untimely false starts, missed blocking, glaring holes in the defense, e Mosley caught flat footed a few times). They also just showed the Michigan Northwestern score. I forgot Michigan shut them out 38-0. I understand why some fans are tempering expectations and not ready to declare UT a playoff team. SEC East, yes. Playoff team - much, much work to be done. GBO

Isn't that what recruiting and the offseason is for?

Which means what? UT destroyed NW too. Michigan is a top-10 to 15 team that will be competing for a playoff spot. How are they any different than UT?

Northwestern was a quality win. The big10 is a little bit softer than the sec but it's not easy for any team to be 10 and2 and beat Stanford

Two things about Reggie Davis's drop:

1. It wasn't as close to a catch as people seem to remember. Because of the camera angle, most people will swear he had it in his hands and dropped it between his arms. Go back and watch from another angle, and you'll see that he never actually got a hand on the ball.

2. There were still 4 minutes left in the game, and even if he'd caught the ball, it would have only tied the game. That's still a whole lot of game left to score one more time to take back the lead if we needed to.

Thank you. That dropped pass only meant that they didn't tie the game. I have seen too many posts on here with people claiming that we won the game because of it.

It's not on par with beatin FSU OSU or Bama but NW was a legitimate top 20 in the country squad last season

Defensively for sure...

I thought we played very sluggish at first on O. 21 of those points were in the 4th. Not like the Iowa game where we came in hot and never let up.

Northwestern was trash. We could've spotted them 40 points and stayed on the bus until half time and still won the game if we so desired.

I was watching the replay also and I am also thankful for the new DC hire. It was kind of stressing me out and I already knew we won... LOL

Not trying to arouse D4H. But Dobbs was sensational in this game. Literally did whatever he wanted and had some really great throws like back shoulder to P Willy or seam routes to Wolf and Ellis. Josh Smith pretty much scored that first TD all on his own though. Unbelievable catch.

PS: Its sad that I have to be cautious about complementing our "top ten in the country" level QB because a certain poster can't take it at face value. I really liked discussing Dobbs before the D4H revolution.

They sure did. RD saved the day. They were comparing butch to Dooley that whole game.

Pretty hard to be sold on Butch at that point, especially being down 24-3 in the 2nd quarter. We had more hype last off-season than in years. But had laid eggs in all 3 big games to that point. Butch had a losing record and nothing more than highly rated recruiting classes to show for it.

Yes, there are some reasons to pump the brakes this season. The 3 blown 2-3 score leads, best wins over UGA and NW which are good but not elite teams, BG passing game went wild on us, then there is the last minute miracle of the USC game after blowing yet another 17pt lead that concerns the most. Those are the things that temper expectations.

Nevertheless, I believe our coaching and playing are both more experienced and talented this season. My prediction = We gon whip dey fannies!

Todd Kelly inexplicable dropped the other (even easier) deep ball in almost the exact place on the field. So, I call a draw at worst concerning those 2 blunders.

I hate Georgia so much. We haven't beaten them between the hedges since 2006. Draining Sanford Stadium will be such a wonderful sight to behold!

I truly believe if maggitt doesn't go down against Oklahoma we would've won the Arkansas and Florida games. If Tuttle and him didn't go down we might have beat Bama. Jancek relied on the lineman for pressure and without those two guys it just wasn't there
