UT/UF game could be in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta

It takes weeks to get power back on in Florida. The traffic of everyone coming home gas shortages and flooding. ( Remember invest 97 dumped 15in last week).

It's a statewide issue, not just Gainesville. The problem is Gainesville is housing people from harder hit areas at the university right now. The whole state will be a mess. Can't host a football game in that IMO

People will be headed home by Tuesday and Wednesday, thousands on the east coast of Florida simply moved further inland and will be headed home as soon as this evening and tomorrow. But most folks will be headed home by Tuesday-Wednesday and things should be pretty much back to normal by Thursday-Friday.

I've got a good buddy in Tampa which is supposedly in the middle of the storm right now and he hasn't lost power or anything. Says it's rough but nothing catastrophic. When this thing dropped to a low cat 2, only about 5-10 mph from a Cat 1, that deep in Florida, I started feeling a lot better about things.

I hope it's moved to Knoxville

Florida lost a home game last year, already lost a home game this year, I seriously doubt UF wants to lose a third home game in less than two seasons.

Let's hope this thing keeps weakening and it's a moot point by Saturday. Heck, if they need another day or two, move it to Sunday or Monday night in Gainesville.

Why are a lot of you all assuming that it'd be a sellout in ATL? Of the three LSU games moved in recent years, none of them were sellouts and two of them were on campus. Short notice and extra expenses would lead to a less than stellar turnout. Obviously if it has to get moved it will but it won't be in Atlanta at MBS

So far it looks like it may not be as bad as predicted. Hopefully that holds for all in the path.

TN is not going to agree to move it here. They will not want 2 straight in the swamp. Even if it is in Gainesville, no way they're putting more than 40000 in there with all of the issues they're going to be having over the next few weeks. Home field advantage will not be a factor if played in Gainesville. Brian rice just said that a neutral site game will not mess with future scheduling as Florida would be in Neyland next year. (Best case scenario)

According to Pat Dooley of the Gainesville Sun, this report has been debunked.

"Florida has not been a part of this conversation" per Dooley. Dooley is plugged-in pretty well with the Atheltic Department, so if he says this isn't true, I would tend to believe him.

I've also heard that Mercedes is NOT available, but Turner Field (now Ga State football complex) is.
If related to Derek, I wouldn't trust a word he says unless talking about shower etiquette.

Soccer is growing, much faster than football is. But you have to look at larger implications. Atlanta is trying to lure in the world cup, which is good for everyone in this region.
Cancelling a soccer match of a team in their home stadium a few days before their match, for two out of state college teams is not a good look.
Especially when there are other places it can be played, Neyland, Legion field.

Well I have never came here for soccer or do I give 2 craps about it. :)

Would it be insensitive to the state of affairs to say "it doesn't matter where we play them, because we're gonna stomp a mudhole in them regardless"?

Does anyone know how hard Gainesville was hit by the storm? I know one of the biggest issues is flooding, but I would think Gainesville would be ok for this weekend.

Miami is a different story since it was directly in Irma's path. Plus the Texans played in Houston today as well. I think the game will be in Gainesville as scheduled.
