UT-UAB game thread

Man we looked great on the 1st and 2nd drives when we scored... I thought Crompton looked good and relaxed... then we started passin too much and we'll the results were'nt great.... the 2nd half we started running the ball and man did Creer tear it up!! Hardesty, Creer, and Foster and Jones will be the weapons against FL... The D was great all game i thought... yeah we gave up a few long runs and passes but still stopped em in the red zone!!! I saw something about Berry startin QB against FL... i think we need him more on D...Crompton if relaxed can make great plays.... Good Luck next week and GO VOLS!!!

Not good, not bad. Handled an awful opponent with little problem. The only glaring problem was Crompton's inability to read coverages. He'll improve that in a hurry or he'll average 4 INTs a game against Florida, Auburn, Georgia, and Alabama.

Crompton is not gonna win any games, so hopefully he won't lose any...

Our running game is our strength...

Our defense is good. The strength is the secondary. LB's aren't bad, and our run defense is good, but we need to find a way to put pressure on the QB.

Our best hope against Florida is to keep the game off Crompton's shoulders. If he has to throw the ball to win, we're in trouble.

I still think UF beats us by 3 touchdowns.

go vols.

I agree. Not good, not bad. Sadly, my opinion is that Florida is probably licking their chops. If we play at this level against FL, we're going to get beaten like a $2 ho.

the way he rivets onto a receiver, there's no way he knows where the safeties are.

Competing with Florida will certainly require Tennessee to find a gear they have yet to hit.

I think that the # of running plays we ran in contrast with passing plays directly reflected with Crompton's play. When he had to carry the team... the results showed on the field.

I think Urban M. is planning on loading the box and forcing JC to take it the air.

Yeah, I expect UF to load the box.

And that don't bode well for our offense.

Given that the defense never did get a clean hit on the UAB QB, that also don't bode well for our chances against Tebow and Harvin.

Hate to say it, but we're in trouble.

go vols.

Their QB did a very very good job moving around in the pocket. Sad thing is that Tebow does an even better job with that and is a much better passer.

I was so depressed watching this game. We don't have a qb and that's a fact.

Now that BYU is destroying UCLA, well, that just makes me feel that much better.

Crompton may be the worst decision maker I've seen on the Hill since Suggs.

Whoa, whoa, I was told back in April there would be no QB controversy. I guess you were all correct, he is awful, nothing controversial about that.

Crompton looked bad today. I'm not sure what it looked like on TV, but he was clearly not seeing the field. On multiple occasions he was not seeing WIDE OPEN receivers downfield because he was staring down a covered receiver. When his first option is gone, he panics and has no idea where to even look next.

I'm not throwing the towel in on Crompton... just yet. Even though we were up 14-0 at the start of the 2nd half with him having 2TD passes... we let off of the running game and Crompton choked until late in the 3Q.

Point positive: Keep on the run. Run. Run. Run. That'll make JCs easing into the system easier. He made a couple of bad decisions, but the passes were much more on target. He had some drops that shouldn't have happened and he didn't hold onto the ball as long nearly as much as last week.

I know there are "the sky is falling" enthusiasts around here, and I know I muttered "if he plays anything like that in the next 2 weeks we're done" but there was improvement from last week. I believe he'll get there by mid-season.

To sum it up in two words....

Stocker Sucks

The stadium was in cheers when he was taken out of the game. Then they run the same play with Warren in there and he catches it for 7 and the stadium goes crazy. Hrm?? Take a hint coaches
