UT students return tickets

Student here...

We don't want to go because we are pretty sure we are going to lose. Throw in the fact that many of us have midterms this week and the next, and watching the vols lose doesn't seem like a good way to spend time.

Optimism can only go so far folks.

This is our problem :banghead2:

Let me put this as simple as I know how.

Screw your finals.

Screw whether you think we will win or lose.

This is friggin Bama. You should want to be there ready and welling to watch and hope to punch a Bammer in the mouth and then laugh about it. You are right Optimisim isn't everything but by gosh PRIDE should be more than enough.

If I remember right this was just for away games when I was a student, home game tickets were given at the time of purchase. I never remember "reserving" anything but away games.

This is the way they've been doing it since they started charging. You probably waited until the week of the game, and purchased them during the "demand" phase, after the initial claim period was over.

No, this is our problem. And they think they can make UT into a premier research institute. HAH!

I graduated last year, may be slightly different this year.

But I had to reserve with my group, then 'collect' my ticket later and print it. Whether we paid during the first or second period I can't remember.

Another thing, When you look in the stands on Saturday. Look up under the jumbotron. The crimson isn't just in the student section.

People on this site need to get off the high horse.

For real, though, I agree with you somewhat, evolution. If a student feels they can reasonable arrange their schedule to get studying out of the way at other times, so they can make the game, then they should do that. And I feel like most students reasonably could, if it were that important to them.

I just didn't like the way you phrased it. "Screw your finals."

Again. If you can't make it missing one day then you have more problems than on day of studying can help. But for all those with no common sense we are talking about the game day. I am not saying ignore the finals all together but don't use that as an excuse to not go to the game.

Yeah...

I went to UT for school, not for the football. That doesn't make me less of a football fan, because I still went to 90% of the games anyway. However, I didn't hesitate for a second if I had to skip a game for some school related activity.

If you're failing finals and midterms just so you can go to a football game, good luck going when you're an alum. You'll end up 45 years old, spouting off about empty seats on volnation while you sit on your couch on a Saturday night.

I'm a student and am attending so no reason to bash me, but I'm fine with students not showing. Send the AD a message that we need a better product. Btw I've attended every home game since I've been a student and a few away games. I'm not mad at people who decide not to spend their money on this though.

if you're failing finals because you spent 3-4hrs in Neyland on a Sat night in October you'll probably end up the same anyway

And for anyone that didn't live on campus, going to the game was not 3-4 hours. Say goodbye to Saturday.

And that's not the point. A lot of people, including myself, worked during the week and had to balance a lot of things. Sometimes football got pushed out of the way so I could dedicate the time to some class.

That's just how the time management worked. If I thought football was the most important thing to me, then I would have been there every single week. But, it's not.

Of the 12,000 tickets for students, 540 were returned ... 1 is too many for Bama, but it could be worse

My apologies guys! I thought since we are all educated we all would know this to be a given. I failed to explain this out so that there would no presumption.

since we've derailed the thread already...it's not about failing finals. It's about not being at the top of your class if you're going to high level post grad work or the likes. And let's be honest.....who's expecting a win this weekend? I'd probably keep up with the game and go if it looks close after the half.

I'm sorry but having a successful future is more important than football. Its not a problem, its a reality.

You can always retake a class, but you can never relive a party...or a UT game

Not anymore. UT has a drop policy that only allows undergraduates to drop 4 classes during their time at UT.

I agree with tuck 100%. I'm a student and attending, but only because I only get to see 2 home UT/Bama football games while I'm a student. But I don't fault students for not going at all! A lot of you on this board bashing students for not buying tickets are not coming either and for the exact same reasons. UT football will always be amazing to the select few, but for everyone else it is crap football and that is just fact.
