UT record if we played the pre-COVID schedule.

2020 has been a pretty strange year.
Considering The Streak going back to 2019, how would Pruitt be sitting had we played the original pre-COVID schedule?

Sept. 5 — Charlotte
Sept. 12 — at Oklahoma
Sept. 19 — Furman
Sept. 26 — Florida
Oct. 3 — Missouri
Oct. 10 — at South Carolina
Oct. 17 Open Date
Oct. 24 — Alabama
Oct. 31 — at Arkansas
Nov. 7 — Kentucky
Nov. 14 — at Georgia
Nov. 21 — Troy
Nov. 28 — at Vanderbilt
I'd say 6-6 and in the Music City Bowl.

Let's give the benefit of the doubt and say that we still would have beaten Mizzou and South Carolina.

All the other conference games (except Vandy, since we haven't played yet) would still be losses. Oklahoma would be a loss - they looked bad early in the season, but they still would have scored 50 on our defense and our offense isn't good enough to take advantage of their defensive problems.

Charlotte and Troy would by no means be automatic wins.

I think we'd be looking at a 4 or 5 win season if this was a regular year.

5-7 on the high side, saying we would have still beaten South Carolina and Missouri. It could be potentially worse, however, with scary Charlotte team and Troy team. Scary for us, anyway.

We would be 5-6 going into the final regular season game against Vandy this coming Saturday. Playing for a bowl spot.

Which would be decidedly not good for Pruitt in his 3rd year as head coach with zero Covid excuses.

...

But take it one step further. Erase not only Covid, but also protests/unrest/BLM movement. In other words, remove BOTH fangs from 2020.

Because I personally think Covid affected Tennessee no worse than average, but the social unrest distracted our squad decidedly more than others.

Take away both the 2020 major distractions, and I think perhaps we're 9-2 going into the Vandy game. Maybe 8-3, but possibly 9-2.

Those of you busy hating on Pruitt will not like that, but I think there's some real meat behind the idea.
