No way is UT still top 20 material. I
base that solely on how much the average ACT entrance scores have risen in the last 10 years. And how lame the student sections are at neyland and TBA these days. Effin smart non rowdy nerds

Being in the top portion of that poll directly correlates to how goods the sports teams are from what I've seen in the past. Florida drops to number 2.

the biggest party on the strip you can remember was after an away game? Thank goodness I'm not any younger

There was a riot after the game. Fires, hoses, chanting, non-sense.

I will say that the UT party scene has seemed watered down in the last 4 years. Every year gets lamer.

Completely agree! When i was a freshman, there were parties everywhere, and now and it seems like there is none.

I heard staff lot 9 got pretty crazy after that game. Burning couches and mattresses haha.

When gerald riggs ran thru that last defender in OT to win we all just went nuts

Here's the rest of those scientifically derived rankings:

#12 Least Beautiful Campus
#14 Jock Schools
#16 Lots of Hard Liquor
#20 Major Frat and Sorority Scene
#16 Party Schools
#110 Quarterback strength (OK, just my personal ranking)

And that's why John Ward was never heard to say, "It's Academic Time In Tennessee!"

When we beat Memphis to be number 1 in basketball we burned couches and tried to go wild on the strip but a lot of people were just "meh" it seemed. It's really disappointing. But I get wild easily.

"The strip after the 98 florida game was the wildest I have seen."<<<<<<<<< TROOF RIGHT HERE< What people have forgotten or don't realize these days is that during the 80s and much of the 90s, there really was no gay st scene or market square at all. And The Old City was hit or miss depending on the night and how much ecstasy you wanted to consume at The Underground. SO, everything revolved around Cumberland Ave my friends. And considering Cumberland Ave is on UT's campus, it only makes sense that UT was much wilder at that time than it is now. On the other hand, I would consider Knoxville in general much more of a "city" now than it was 10-15 years ago.

Ha about ecstasy at the Underground. You know that British Martin went to jail right for dealing there?

The Strip makes me feel old with how much has changed in just 10 years.

I am proud of the pedestrian area next to the library and humanities. That SGA really did something. Prior to that all UT did was put up blue light phones following on campus rapes. Now there are some beautiful parking garages, some great sports and health facilities (I know the latter is coming) some nice campus scenes aside from just the pretty old buildings on the hill.

wasn't UT in the top 3 in the mid 90's?

They were number 1 in the late 90's early 00's I'm pretty sure.

Also I'm pretty sure LSU pays or just flat out tells the writers not to put them on the list.

and like Pantone said, for Arizona State to be that far down is a disgrace and majorly discredits this list.

Take note of #5: Ohio University. We've slipped a little this year, but still holding strong in the top 5. You should enjoy those of us Bobcats that will be in Knoxville for the game on the 26th. We're a laid-back, fun group of fans.
