UT QB situation getting interesting (DNJ,Gilbert)

Welcome. I hope so, but everyone seems to like Washington now. Heaps has been a Huskies fan, and if he goes there then we could definitely lose out on Scroggins too. LSU is actually a major player for him (Scroggins). I think--or hope--we get one of the two, but who knows.

Realistically, that good luck probably won't pay off for another year, but it is appreciated nonetheless. :hi:

Yeah I read the update on Heaps when he talked about us. Gut tells me he has some interest but not enough. Scroggins is more realistic for us. Even Montana's son seems to be in the mix but I don't see him leaving the Left coast unless it is for ND.

There may be some folks seeing an opportunity in Washington but man they got a mountain to climb!

And yes good luck. A strong Vols program in a roundablout way helps us out since we share Bama and Florida as blood enemies. Our two schools have only played each other 28 times in 110+years of CFB so we never have been fierce rivals of any sort, even with the SEC CGs this decade where Vol nation was a tough opponent (without Zenon's INT who knows?). The way Kiffin and company's recruiting is taking shape your 2011 could be very interesting.

Just as a historical note ...

we used to have a Greg Jones, I recall he was linebacker in late 70s, from Bristol I think. Maybe not all-SEC, but tough as nails.

We also had another Greg Jones more recently than that. He was a DT from 2002 to 2004 or so.

Yep, Greg Jones was a HS junior on the Tenn High School national championship team. He was a little small but won a couple of those TV players of the week at UT. I heard that he turned down a FA tryout with the Cardinals.

whether you guys like it or not, its probably gonna be crompton, again. Being realistic, that rozier guy is gonna have a hard time getting back into the groove after not playing for 5 years, however, if he starts and turns out to be good, i might be kinda ticked because south carolina was his other option besides UT. Anyway, its probable crompton, you guys better hope he does what erik ainge did in between his soph and junior year. Btw, didn't ainge get caught for steroids at the beginning of last season for the jets? what was that all about?
