Not sure if anyone if any current or alum POTSB members saw this over the weekend but evidentally someone in MTSU's band created a FB page called "Stop Being Chicken, UT - Let the MTSU Band of Blue perform". I have a few friends that were in their band so I saw they joined and I looked on its wall. Seems that they feel UT didnt want the BOB to play because they would "show up the UT band". Ok, stop laughing. After I was sent a link by another BOB alumn, I fired off a response to him and tagged the others I knew who were in the group telling them it was understandable they didnt know what homecoming is considering theirs has a few hundred, at the most, alumn that return for the game while UT's alum numbers in the thousands. Also let them know that considering the UT Alumni Band will number as much if not more than MTSU's band, when they combine with the POTSB for the halftime show, it tends to take quiet a bit longer than a normal show and if MTSU did their normal show and cause the POTSB's show to run over due to all the activities, UT would incur a penalty enforced on the kickoff. After all it is our homecoming, not theirs. I suggested before they show their stupidity to ask their director and AD what options were given to them as this usually happens every HC game. A few years back Memphis St insisted they play at the HC half time so they were restricted to only 2 songs. Sometime over the w/e the page was deleted. Who ever set the page up was dumb enough to open it to anyone to post. While their was plenty of whining on the MTSU part I can only imagine the hell UT people were giving them for this wanna be program before it vanished.

MTSU's pregame show consists of the band standing in place and jumping around to piped in music, so it's not like they have anything awesome to offer. POTSB isn't as good as it used to be but still is much better than BOB.

I figure UT will have a lot of extra activities during the half time, such as homecoming queen announcement, awards for fraternities and sororities, and bunch of other memorials etc. Sorry, no time for the chick arse MTSU band. They want to play during the half time? Then stop being UT's little biatch, so UT may schedule them to come for a non homecoming game.

Did I mention I don't give a shet about MTSU?

i go to MTSU and have friends in the Band of Blue. They are a cocky band, and they think they are among the elite bands in college athletics. The BOB is a large band, yes, but they do nothing but dance and play pop songs. The Pride is an elite marching band that actually can march and do cool formations. The Band of Blue lets anyone that wants to be in the band play. MTSU fans think that the program is on par with UT. They live in a fantasy world.

It has nothing to do with their band.
It has to do with the timing of everything, there's just too much going on during HC halftime to do it.

Do those MTSU morons not realize that it's our homecoming?

We schedule ****ty teams for a reason. Why would we let their band on our field when their football team will be polluting it enough?

Back in the day (around 90 to 92) went to C of C hosted by MTSU and the BOB every year for high school bands...back then the BoB was pretty rockin'...now though, I think a couple of those high school bands we marched would blow them off the field.

Denial doesn't change the facts. Spending years to perfect playing an instrument that no one wants to hear. Tuba's rock!

The Band of Blue used to have a pit (you band folk will understand the term). Maybe they don't now, but as far as I'm concerned, only high school bands use a pit, and Tennessee already let a high school band perform this year in Neyland.
