On the ESPN Coll football main page there is a poll asking if the Vols will make a BCS bowl in 2007. At this point 77% of 14,000 people think not. What does the Vol Nation think?

Barring a miracle on the OL and DL and a huge step up by the new starting WR I forsee anywhere from 2 to 6 losses.

i'm in the midle of this.....3-4 is all i forsee, we'll probalby be about as good as we were last year, and i do think the running game will be better, the passing game a tad worse...though the TE's could make a difference in that....either way, i still don't think we have the overall talent or depth up front on either side of the ball to do more than 9-3 next year.
I have a feeling we will finish 3rd in the SECE
possibly. i still think 2nd is about right. SC is the wild card........how much better will the really be, if at all? UGA, FL and TN all have holes, with FL probably still being in the best shape at the end of the day....so who's holes are bigger, TN or UGA? huge game with the Dawgs as usual....

2 DT starters on DL
3 of 4 starters in the secondary
LT and LG on the offensive line
All 3 starters @ WR

Lots of players to replace. Not a lot of experienced returning players at those positions. Lot of questions.

Replacing both starting DT's on the DL,
3 of 4 starters in the secondary,
and the starting LT and LG on the offensive line.

Fellows and Mapu have both had starting experience. So, really, when you talk of experience, we need to replace 1 DT, CB, S, and LT.

Losing David Ligon means nothing.

And you forgot one of the biggest losses - our starting MLB.

Let's just say I'll be more surprised if the Vols do make it to a BCS game than I would be if they don't make it that far.

With Mayo shifting to the middle and Rico and Karl on the outside, UT's LB corps has the chance to be one of the fastest, most athletic groups in the nation. Add Ellix Wilson and Adam Myers-White and Dorian Davis or Donald for depth and LBs should not be a weak link.

Losing Ligon means nothing is correct. Jacque, possibly Scott or Vlad could all step up and fill his spot. Johnson and Scott will also be in contention to fill the LT spot. If nothing else, Eric Young will play at LT and one of the others (Scott or Johnson) will play RT. Not too concerned about the OL.

Fellows had good and bad moments at CB so we'll see about him. Safety should go to a JUCO guy, be it McKenzie(the probable starter) or Willingham. UT has a pretty good history when it comes to JUCO's playing right away and making an impact. See Mahelona and Gibril Wilson.

Most coaches put their best starters on the offensive line on the left side to protect the QB's blind side. Fulmer didn't put him at LG instead of RG arbitrarily, I think he was better.

Fellows got beat out for a starting job. Yeah he has starting experience, but he got benched shortly afterwards. I'd rather see one of the freshmen coming in get an opportunity to play. I think Fellows will be a contributor, but more in the mode of Antwan Stewart.

Mapu was a very good player as a true freshmen, last year he didn't play well. Granted he hadn't played football in 2 years.

I agree the LB group is strong.

If Scott or Vlad are better then Ligon though then why weren't they starting last year instead of Ligon? Fulmer had no problem playing McClendon last season.

Not saying they are better, I just don't expect a dropoff at the guard spot. Parker and Jacque will probably be the starters anyway, but if Vlad can learn the plays he has to be on the field. The guy is a monster

if chavis ever wanted a head coaching job. this would be the year to open some eyes.they are
one injury or 2 on the d-line from having big
problems.and the secondary will be it's usual week
self.linbackers should be solid.we should have a
good o-line this year with some youg studs emerging.
will have to rely on the running game early antill ange gells with
the recivers. tennessee will win 8-10 ball games
this year.but look for them to give up big yardage
on the ground this year.look for coaching staff to
move an o-line man or 2 over to that side to give
us a little more depth.

DL better step up and get that Tennessee tradition back. Otherwise, we are done, we are freaking done!

not to mention our kicking game....which could make or break us in a few games! Unless we pull a Fla.( I am still amazed by that!)

If the Dawgs don't finish at least 2nd in the East this year I'd say the luster has worn off Richt's Midas' touch.

For some reason, I have a great feeling about this team. I can't put my finger on it, but I had the same feeling in 1998.

Yes... the Vols will win every game this season.

Look at who we had to replace in 1998... look how that season turned out.

everyone in the east that has a chance to compete loses a lot going into next year. i have a feeling that by the end of the cal game, every one of us will know exactly how the season will play out.
