Time for Barnes once again to hit the Juco trail. Heard Bediako didn't have us in his newly revised TOP 5. Ouch... that is how many strike outs now for Bigs?

Rob Lewis sure got this wrong last week. He said that GA looked like the team to get his commitment last Thursday.

There are usually 1-2 JUCOs each year even worth taking a shot at because the "hit rate" is so low. The grad transfer market is infinitely more productive in terms of finding an impact player.

How about the non grad transfers as there seems to be a lot of those happening recently and we got one in Bailey ourselves. Guess it’s likely that bball will also get the new rule change also?

It’s rare JUCO guys are ready to produce big time in Year 1, Barnes also hasn’t had much success in JUCO ranks, look at Chris Darrington. They will continue evaluating guys, be open to transfers, and also the extra year of eligibility being tossed around changes things.

The NCAA is apparently going to give winter sports an extra year of eligibility like they did with fall sports. So we could get Fulky and Anosike back next year (maybe Pons too but I bet he goes pro after this year). We may not actually be as desperate for a big in this class as we thought.

That one case is hardly a reason to support recruiting a juco as a “bad idea.” He’s also had a lot of bad transfers like Uros. That doesn’t mean Anosike won’t be a good one.

One thing is for sure, the ambiguity of eligibility is never an excuse to not recruit. They had three bigs they wanted and missed on all three. They are now going way down the board to fill those positions.
