agree. We have one of the toughest schedules in the country. What do people want, to go for the guinness record for hardest schedule all time?

No. I personally think it is about time that UT joined everyone else in doing this. UF, UGA, Bama, LSU, Aub, USC, etc ALL play FCS schools almost every year.

It does a couple of things. It helps you stay healthier by giving your 1st string a game off. It also helps you get some game experience for your young players.

As someone mentioned I believe, you can count one FCS win every year.

Hamilton shouldn't schedule these creampuffs---UT will win by 50+, when they could be playing a better team to get them ready for the SEC schedule.

Good warm-up game. Help build some confidence in the team heading into the UF and Oregon games.

I still really wish we were playing Akron instead.
BTW, I used to love Jupiter Coyote. I even had that sticker on my car when I was in college.

(Insert sarcasm) You guys are right, playing a tune up game before we enter into a season where we play Oregon, Florida, LSU, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina just makes no sense. Plus it isn't like we are breaking in a new coaching staff, new offensive line, new quarterback, and a reworked secondary. Starting against Cal, and UCLA 3 out of the past 4 years has worked out swell for us.

I wonder if Michigan thought the same thing when they played an FCS school? App St. Didnt they beat them in the sooo called Big House!?

It seems like every year teams in the sec besides us schedule a UTC, Furman, Citadel, or another 1-AA, I think we could actually use one every once in a while. As long as that team isn't appalachian state haha

You're absolutely right. I wish we could start off with Alabama, then play Florida, and then Oregon. It's just plain unmanly to start off with UT-Martin.

What if the game determines if we win 6 games and become bowl eligible? Thought about that one?

Appy State was a damn good football team that year, and comparing UTM to them is like comparing Tiger High to UT. Besides we need an "easier" game before we jump into the fire with Oregon and Florida back to back....

What does playing three top 10 ranked teams in the first 3 games of the year accomplish? Besides we had to fill a spot and gives money back to an instate school. it has its pros and its cons...

call me crazy but i think we should schedule one of these games every year. Everybody else does it.

Why play a creampuff with a guaranteed blowout win??? What does that accomplish??

A win and time for players to rest

i mean by that logic, we shouldnt have played W Ky last year, we should have been trying to schedule Oklahoma or USC....

A team does not improve by beating some hapless I-AA program by 60.

Sure they can. If nothing else it will help everyone get acclimated to a new coaching staff and see how they do things in live action.

I'm not real big on scheduling FCS opponents, but in this case it's probably not a bad thing. I might feel differently if I believed we were a threat to win more than about 7 games next year.
