...4th in the SEC vs the conference in total O only 6.4 ypg behind MSU for 3rd. They're 3rd in scoring O at 30.2 ppg, 2nd in rushing ypg, and 6th in passing O.

IMO, this is VERY good not only for the team's prospects for winning out but also recruiting.

UT could finish higher if they play well in these last 4 games. They need to roll Vandy like Houston did.

Decent numbers.
We should finish well. The staff seems to play a little more aggressive when favored and the team has seemed determined to make a statement.
As you said, good for recruiting.

Good news. Suspect we'll move up on O and D in the conference. Most of the remainder games are against weak teams while most of the leaders except FL play a tougher schedule.

Can't decide if I like our schedule set-up or not.
Stings when we play the heavy front loaded part but
leaves a good feeling in the off season as we roll through the back end.
I guess it's better to roll at the end before the long off season.

I guess. I liked the year when FL game got postponed to December. That worked out well.

It is going to depend on Jones... I know... I default there. But hear me out. Some coaches are better with the unknowns of an early season than others. I think that was a key advantage for Spurrier vs Fulmer. Jones had a slow start to begin this season. He tipped us off with that bit about not really knowing your team until 3 or 4 games in. He'll have to be better than that to beat McElwain.

BUT.... there shouldn't be any problem knowing his team next year. It will be almost the same guys on O and many of the same on D.

I would prefer a back-loaded schedule. Build confidence early, and then you can have a very special season if you steal the tough ones at the end.

Even if you start well on a front-loaded schedule, the pressure only builds to maintain your position as the season goes on.

If our schedule was back-loaded people would whine about having to play the tough opponents with a banged up team.

I would add that I also am not a fan of a coach having to learn on the job
But...... ( you knew that was coming)
If we are going the "diamond in the rough" route, I'm pleased that I can see noticeable changes/improvements.

Florida has done well with JM but honestly, I'm ok with that. We will break the streak soon and I rather it be against the powerhouse than a Muschamp. -
Fulmer/Spurrier, it just means more.

When we get good enough to make some serious noise on a national level, a front loaded schedule will be an advantage. Early losses can be made up, late ones are tough.

Yeah, that's where the struggle comes in.
I agree with your post but because we have to 'guess'
that it would work well for us, I stay nervous.

Losing to Vandy to finish a season, made for really long years.
But losing to a top team couldn't possibly suck that bad.
If you are right though and we went out beating top teams - whoa baby.

I would think a mix would be best. The tough October/ easy November has almost always done well by us though, so I have no opinion to speak of.

I think the front loaded schedule could be more tolerable if the open date moved back to week 3 or 4.

Well, we don't have anymore OK, FL, Al type defenses left except for Mizzou and Vandy. Both of them can be worn down by our offense if need be.

Both MU's and VU's D's are skewed by the competition they've played so far. Houston pretty badly exposed Vandy. I think I covered MU earlier in this thread. If not, the summary is that they have played the SEC's 8th, 9th, 10th, 12th, and 13th ranked scoring O's. MSU and UT will be major steps up in competition for their D... and their O is still terrible.

Vandy allows 18.5 ppg in the SEC but that is skewed by MU's 3 pt game. Their other 3 opponents scored more than VU's avg. And... I kind of think UT owes them a beating after last year.

I'm assuming these are the top scoring teams in SEC:

Ole Miss has MissSt, Ark and LSU to finish out.

Ark has Ole Miss, MissSt, LSU and Mizzou left.

MissSt has Al, Ole Miss, Mizzou Arky left.

LSU has Al, Ark, aTm and Ole Miss

Al has MissSt, LSU, Charleston Southern and Aub left

So most of the top SEC offenses have their toughest defenses left to play.

I can't be pegged on this one. I've argued all along that the assistants work within boundaries established by Jones.

He gets the blame... he gets the credit. Or at least most of it.

The UK win was a very good one. Not sure if anyone had mentioned it before but UT scored the most points they've allowed and beat them by the widest margin.

UK isn't that bad of a team... If they can get their heads screwed back on, they'll beat UGA.

Our offensive numbers have been decent all year.
That's not saying that Debord hasn't made mistakes on a calls but him "sucking" has been greatly over exaggerated.
But honestly OC's and DC's make easy targets.
