I've decided not to discuss them until they figure out how to get us some of those sweaters / jerseys.

Unfortunately, it's a club team. It'd be nice to see the SEC step up and create a league.

Slick Rick says, Slick Rick did not know we had a hockey team at Tennessee. I hope it goes well. I don't know much about hockey.

I lived in DC for a few years and began following hockey while I was up there. In spite of the absolutely incompetent management of the NHL, the game itself can be magnificent. I'd argue that there's nothing in sports more exciting than an overtime game in the Stanley Cup playoffs -- sudden death, up and down the ice, the game can always end at any moment. It's fantastic. (Unless your team is involved, and then it's agonizing.)

I'd love to have a UT sweater to wear down to the Thrashers games. I hope they go up for sale.

(While I watch them choke their way out of a playoff spot. Agh.)

We are trying to get that done as a non-varsity league, have been for about 4 years. The problem is travel...and getting all of the coaches to agree (not everyone gets along).

Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Alabama all have teams. Word is that they are trying to get one started at Auburn for next season.

How about this logo?

I don't get why it would be hard to get the coaches to agree to change from a club format to league play. It would be beneficial to all of them.

Does it have to do with scheduling? I think that's what you were getting at with "travel" I'm just not sure...

Most all of the SEC teams play each other already. But we are the only team that plays all the other teams. Some of the coaches of the other teams can't get along and schedule games.

Some teams also fill there schedule with closer schools because of budget concerns. (Ex. Florida plays mostly Central Florida, South Florida, Florida State, Florida Tech, etc.)

There is also the issue of length of travel for teams like Vandy to Florida, or Kentucky to Florida which is quite a trip; especially when most of the teams have to carpool or are charged for use of university vans for travel.

I swear I will buy a jersey if I can, and wear it to every Thrashers game I go to. There has GOT to be a way to work it out with the licensing guys, right??

I'll buy a gamer if I have to. My wife will probably like wearing a sweater that reeks of some young guy's sweat...

I LOVE those game jerseys! I would be willing to by a gamer if that were allowed to happen. Anyway I can reserve one just in case??

When will next season's schedule be out? I'd like to go to some games next season

Also, I know that in the years past the Nashville Predators have had hosted the high school state championship (The Predators Cup). Any chance that there could be something worked out where the IceVols play on a Friday night and the Preds a Saturday.... that would be a fun weekend. Playing at the GEC would be good exposure for the middle TN Vol fans....

Yes, we would like to schedule either MTSU or Vandy at the GEC next season (maybe both)...we played Vandy there a few years ago, and it went really well and helped us gain a lot of exposure.
