UT has the money, why not just pay up

I know, I know, but why not just psy up and keep playing ball.

Seems now days with million here million there, what's the difference.

Over all the ledger says we lost on Jimmy Cheek, Pruitt and all the rest.

Maybe, just maybe we could be better then 10 and 3 for this year.

This is a contract, they are there to be negotiated. Of course if I break my ADT contract all hell breaks loose.

Also just maybe, ole nico van de maas may come back.

If not sue his ass into submission

Im just saying, GO VOLS

Zero like u got cause he ain’t worth 4 million.

Same reason you don’t pay a crack whore 10k for sex. Juice ain’t worth the squeeze.

At some point you’ve gotta put your foot down. The kid isn’t Peyton or Tebow 2.0. and honestly, even if he was, he tried to hold our program hostage for more money. Kick rocks.

I’d agree if Nico was really good and/or a team player, but all indications are that he’s sub par and not a team first guy.

Because there are limits to the money they are willing to invest in this. The University of Tennessee and its boosters aren't the US government and can't just fire up the printing press anytime they need more money, consequences be damned.

And since there are limits to the money, everyone involved has decided that $4 million for a good-but-not-great college quarterback is not a good use of the resources that are available. So yes, while they could pay Nico $4 million, Nico has not demonstrated that he can generate $4 million in value through his performance. He will have to find somewhere else that is willing to meet his demands, if he can.

As I said yesterday, you want that kind of money, you need to light up Ohio State, not just Kent State.

No way! It's good they let him walk because there's only so much NIL money to go around and this roster has other needs that need to be addressed if we want to get to the next level where we're actually competitive with Georgia and contending for SEC and national titles. Frankly, Nico's performance last year didn't warrant the $2 million he made. We can get better QB play than what he gave us cheaper most likely.

Why would one continue to invest in something that wasn’t worth it, much less pay extra?
A wise person would not.
CJH is wise…….

Nico was still on his first and only contract at UT which was 8 million over 3 years. They never renegotiated it with him and I think that was part of the problem. Many other kids at UT got raises but Nico didn’t. It’s a really sad story too because I think Nico wanted to stay at UT.
Boo freakin’ hoo for the poor bastard

$8 mil for FOUR years and if he shows up for practice he gets a raise. Made a move that couldn’t be tolerated. Full cheer.

Of course UT has a couple mil laying around, this is big time CFB. The problem is Nico (or his family) tried to leverage us doing this **** right before the spring game, and frankly Nico hasn't performed well enough to deserve that kind of cash. So, CJH, rightfully so, said kick rocks Nico.

Because he is not worth the money, this is not like Gibson.. Nico was mid.. yes he could be better this year, but you ask for money after you prove something, not before.

Everyone says "pay up", "go after the big money guys", . We did that with Nico, how'd that work out?

Bc paying a qb is paying for performance and leadership. Neither of those we’ve seen out of Nico.

If you want to be in the playoff contention you’re going to have to spend especially coming out of this conference. Spend but spend intelligently
