i like the adidas look, but i'd prefer to go back to nike. it's a simple reason. nothing to do with actual gear, but the Nike football camps are huge and if our contract was with Nike we could hold the camps at Neyland and our practice facilities and showcase UT for free. I just think it would be huge in the recruiting battle in football.

adidas sucks. Don't know why anyone likes them. Their clothes are OK, but they don't make a lot of clothes available. Like when we had that retro jersey week or whatever all the nikes schools had retro jerseys avaiable, and adidas didn't even produce one. Look at the vol stuff that's available to buy, and almost all of the adidas stuff is horrible. Nike produces all kinds of stuff. Besides Nike only messes with the jerseys if the school approves, look at Bama's jerseys they are the same. Adidas is a football (soccer) company, the majority of their money comes from that, thus they don't have to put a lot of resources in things like college football. I hope that we can get a nike contract when this adidas one runs out, it's costing the school a lot of money in revenue.

I wish that Tn would have a few cool "alternate" uniforms. I am personally employed by New Balance and they are (in the past couple yrs) getting into sports quit a bit. In 05 Auburn wore their cleats and come michigan team was completely suited up in NB this yr..Nike stuff is good, but they are more of a money based company that is all bout the money and if you have worn it before, u know that it will tear up before it really should..NB is a american made company who will give the colleges all the apparel and/or shoes for free...sounds like a good deal to me..not to mention they make any size or width for the big boys

just last year, Tn re signed their contract with adidas i think for the next 5 yrs..adidas pays TN money for TN to wear their stuff

Bingo. I don't specifically know about Adidas, but I definitely read that Nike is now a company which does nothing but design and marketing. (And these days, that's pretty much the same thing.) All manufacture is not only outsourced, but contracted out to a company that turns around and subcontracts it out to somebody else, usually in Asia. Ever since the child labor stuff came out awhile back, Nike has kept its hands well insulated from something as fungible and mundane as actual apparel manufacture. Thus you have giant textile complexes in places like Malaysia that make products for several competing western companies -- Nike, Adidas, Reebok, etc., all made by the same people.

I'm sure Adidas is the same way -- whoever's actually making UT's uniforms, it's not them. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they contracted out to Sports Belle for the actual manufacture -- all Adidas cares about is getting the logo on TV, not making the uniforms.

Adidas is fine for football, but Nike makes much better bball uniforms. Plus they sell the tackle twill jerseys and shorts for the better teams; those are tiiight.

Adidas even has all the NBA uniforms...it is acutally Reebok but Adidas owns Reebok now...like I said, go with NB...at least their stuff is American made

NB is American built but all the materials come from China.

not all the materials come from china..there are a select few..very very few shoes that are completely american made..but nevertheless, still made in america..boston to be exact or ontario, california

Not entirely. While some of their products are made in America, I myself own a pair of Chinese-made NB running shoes. (No doubt that they still manufacture more stuff in America than a lot of apparel companies, though.)

As far as NB goes, I would bet Under Armor would be the new up and comer that gets into 3rd place behind Nike and Adidas as far as being the offical apparel provider for college teams.

well NB builds what they call "container shoes" for the stores like footlocker and rack room..they are cheap shoes that are made in mass quanities overseas so that stores like that can sell a shoe for like 40 bucks...to tell if u have one of those shoes the model name will start out CM426 for example...where as in a typical NB running shoe will start out just M426...just look for the C..underarmour stuff is pretty sweet, i would take it over Nike any day

i guess is can't dislike adidas because i can't find anything wrong with our uniforms. if you could change something, would you?

Oregon gets special treatment because the CEO of Nike is a graduate. Nike makes better stuff and only messes with jerseys when the school will allow it. I'd rather have Nike because they make better fan apparel (sp?) and do not endorse soccer as their #1 money maker.
