somewhat untrained in starting threads so please forgive me. I have not read much about our "QB of the future" so I want info on what to expect in 2 years.

With Helton leaving the program, how will that affect Shrout? Do you expect him to follow Helton or will he stay committed to UT with Freeze as OC?

With Mauer and Bailey committed, do you expect that to affect Shrout's decision? I am more concerned about 2020 and beyond, without even going into possible controversy next year.

I'll hang up and listen.

Looks like Bailey wili be a freshman starter in 2020. With Freezer coming it will
Be interesting to see JG response on the field.

JG has 2 years of eligibility left.

With McBride leaving that leaves Shrout as the only other QB on campus today. He will get a redshirt this year so he has 4 years.

Mauer is an early enrollee so the QB room this spring will be JG, Shrout, and Mauer. It’s JGs spot to lose for starter next year, and Shrout will be the presumed backup unless Mauer balls out.

Projected 2019 QB Depth:
QB1 JG
QB2 Shrout
QB3 Mauer (probabable redshirt).

Right now we just have Bailey for the 2020 QB commits. So going into 2020 you have a senior JG (assuming he doesn’t leave early), Shrout with 3 years of eligibility left, Mauer with 4, and a presumed redshirt for Bailey.

Projected 2020 QB Depth:
QB1: JG
QB2: Shrout or Mauer
QB3: Shrout or Mauer
QB4: Bailey (presumed redshirt).

Things get interesting in 2021 (assuming no attrition before then). JG is graduated so it’s an open battle between Shrout, Mauer, Bailey, and whoever is new in 2021. I actually would expect at least one of the Shrout, Mauer, Bailey group to transfer in 2020 (whoever finishes 3 between that group).

Shrout’s on the roster. There’s no commitment. Are you asking if he’s considering transferring? Like McBride did, I think he’ll compete first.

This is best QB depth we've had in a long time. Gotta see it on the field, but the competition is getting better at most spots. There were not defections that I can recall from any of Pruitt's recruits, which means starting to build depth at all positions. Depth on OL means better performance for whoever is QB

Freeze's offense is a fast reaction offense, which doesn't fit JG well as he is today. Great changes in his thought process would have to be made. So I say its anyone's position to take

I see a grad transfer of some type come in. Don't most carry 4 scholarship QBs? I mean the QB room will be a Junior... A RS Freshman and a True Freshman... The least deep position on the field. You take an injury not only no solid backup but no experience at all!

No room for one this year as our numbers are extremely tight this recruiting cycle.

Well if this purging would takes place... Might just have to scoots some bodies @$$ out the door.
Nobody on our 2 deep is getting purged. We've got 5 or 6 big time guys we are close on and our purge will be to get them and not another QB. Grad transfers this year will be 6 footers that weigh 305+

Great Outline. Can you do one for Offensive Line? Seems like everytime we get good in one area, another area goes weak.

Blake Barnett was suppose to be Bama's QB of the future, then Hurts beat him out. After that, Hurts was the QB of the future and Future Heisman winner, but Tua took that away. Therefore, you never know about what will happen. If I had a guess, JG will start the next 2 years and they will fight it out and probably Harrison will be the starter, but nothing is for certain.

Pump the brakes on Bailey he has to get here first plus he won't take JG job away from him that easy.

Haven't you heard, JG is starting the next two years with no competition. Nothing to see here.

Looking at the roster, I noticed that JG has two seasons remaining
Best case scenerio is for JG to lose his job early next season and serve as our back up
Then for his 5th year, he transfers to another program and can play there his final season
I have no doubt that the other Q b's have more talent than JG and if coaches open up a true competition, JG will get beat out
