Every time I see a thread that includes a quote from someone in the media, everyone immediately piles on with statements such as "he's an idiot" and "who made him an expert".

This is a serious question -- Is there anyone that covers UT football in the media that VN agrees is THE authority? And where can I listen/read? Please explain your answer. Thanks! :hi:

I like Brent Hubbs and Rob Lewis (Volquest). Seems like they report the facts without any bias. They are the No Spin Zone :)

It's the age old paradox, if you drive faster than me you're a raging maniac. If you drive slower than me you're a incompetent moron.

It makes me laugh sometimes. People will get on Travis, Low, Rucker, Woody Paige, etc. Don't people realize that these guys actually have a UT slant? If they disagree with you a couple times, that doesn't make them idiots. In fact they are more likely than you to be right!

Griffith is an idiot.

Adams gets a little carried away at times but he's not a bad writer.

Other than that, I have no complaints.

The only issue I have with UT and the local media is it seems to me that the local media LOVES to dig up dirt and do anything possible to put the program in a negative light. You see very few positive stories about the team and it's players. I also note that other programs in other areas seem to have a little more control over what is thrown into the spotlight. I do understand it is their job to write stories and report on the news....but that means positive and neative. I know if I were coaching the team and the KNS started to stir the pot and cause issues as they like to try to do...I would put them out and they would get NO access to the team.

People are sensitive right now. Some of us look to those who can actually do something about the situation and ask hard questions. Others just like to throw stones at those who ask the hard questions as if not asking such things makes them go away. Same kind of thing that was going on at the beginning of the rennaisance when people who questioned things were accused of being blasphemers.

He was born in Memphis, TN and did indeed attend UT. One of his first jobs in journalism was writing for the Knoxville Journal. :good!:

I'm sorry, I can't let this go.... Chris Low has an anti-UT agenda. He needs to get the F out of Knoxville.

The rest of them I'm fine with. If I ever see CLow on the streets, he's gettin my very best haymaker.

Or, the people who already understand the problems/questions going on with the team/program get tired of "realists" beating a dead horse. Some know there are a lot of questions, but just want to be unconditional fans of their team without all the negative garbage.

My opinion of most media types is pretty low. I like,......"just the facts ma'am". Whatever that is. I really get tired of listening to the opinionated blowhards pro or con who get paid just to run their mouths. They stick their finger in the air and jump on the bandwagon. Most of them are PC freaks and are biased towards northeast or midwest teams. Disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then those people should not post in response to the questions. That would end it pretty quick IMO. Everybody's get to get their two cents in though so we can't get threads that don't devolve into some sort of mudslinging contest with contesting posters trying to claim the high ground.

I can agree, but I also understand how all the negativity and "you need to realize we suck" threads get really old. Its football and loyal fans are always gonna stick up for thier team. So if the threads stop then there would be no response. We both know none of this is gonna change though.
