While premium-level seating sales are extremely strong for UT's athletics department, season-ticket renewals are again lagging behind. Through Aug. 9 figures supplied to VolQuest.com by UTAD, Tennessee had sold 66,500 tickets compared to 69,184 at the same point in the previous year. The Vols finished last season with 69,885 season-ticket purchases.

But an examination of the larger picture — both at UT the past few years and around the Southeastern Conference this season — might warrant holding off on painting this a Derek Dooley versus Lane Kiffin phenomenon.

The fact of the matter is that Tennessee has not entirely sold out its football season-ticket allotment for seven straight years...

Got my tix. That's all that matters. I have regular (albeit awesome) seats. Go Vols! :good!:

I noticed the other day that the TN Terrace is about 90% sold out now.

Personally,,,,,,I have spoiled myself,,,,,,,over the past few years by buying lower level, sideline seats,,,,,,,,,off the net,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,for each individual home game,,,,,,,,,,,,that I've attended.

There is no way,,,,,,,,,,,,I could afford season tickets for those same seats. I would like the luxury of season tickets, but,,,,,,at this point am satisfied,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,with buying better tix one at a time,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,although I do get shut out from big games from time to time.

It's the nature of the beast these days. There are so many options available to get tickets other than through the UT tix office or off the street before a game. By the same token, I couldn't tell you when the last time was that I bought a Cd from a store. Downloading individual songs is the only way these days.

DANG,,,,,,,YOU,,,,,,EVIL INTERNETS!! ha ha,,,,,bye bye

Interesting. The article says that LSU and FL are doing very well in there tickets sales. LSU sold 68,500 for three years straight which is the highest ever sold. Kinda funny that last year in a down year we still sold more than them. Of course I realize this translates into a lot of cash loss for TN but respectively speaking, doesn't appear that we are really doing that poorly.

Question: Article also says, "...the average fan can purchase season tickets for the coming season without a donation." Has anyone heard how this will work? How will seats be distributed, ect?

UT needs to cut the ticket prices like other companies do when their product is not as good.

Season Tickets are expensive and ppl are probably afraid to make big money contributions with the economy being so weak right now...

Thanks for that. Really insightful to just hate on everything. The reason sales are down is because everyone is predicting us to have a sh!t year and the economy isn't too hot for your average fan. It has nothing to do with the coach and we don't play buffalo until NEXT YEAR. We start winning again and the fair weather fans like yourself will start buying tickets again so they can come criticize our team, coach, QB etc.

Fact of life, haters gotta hate...

I was under the impression that you have to donate.

To get season tix, you can donate as little as 100 to my knowledge. although I'm sure its possible to get that waived. The tickets themselves are 363 this year. 100 gets you in, 1000 gets you lower level. So anywhere from 463 to 1363. 463 for 16 tickets isn't isht.

Edit: I'm actually not sure if that's 2 tix to each game or 1. It seems its likely 8 tickets for 463, not 16. Idk tho.

This. Lower the damn donation and they will come. Stupid to pay a large donation and the tickets for much more than buying them 1 by 1 or from someone on eBay.

Why would you buy season tickets in the upper level? They are everywhere on the internet or on gameday for next to nothing? The only reason I would get season tickets is lower level and it's $1000 per ticket online. I called the ticket office and spoke with a guy that said he could get me 2 lower level with a donation of $500 this year but it would go up next year and on and on and on..... I said "no thanks." I will buy the $800 pair of season tickets on Craigslist.

I would have season tickets if the donation wasn't so ridiculous.

Have you ever actually talked to anyone at the VASF about prices for donations? They don't really advertise it on their website, or in any literature they mail out, but you can do a non priority donation where you won't be able to renew the exact same seats from year to year, but only have to donate $250 for lower level seats. That's really not all that expensive IMO. Give them a call and see what they have available. At this point I would imagine they're just tyring to get them sold, but I can't really say for sure.

Good advice, you sold me... I am calling them Monday morning.

Got to get some cash together this weekend... That would be about $600 for lower level.
