UT fans should want a rematch with Bamer!

I would take a beatdown, with a shot at winning from the start, over sitting at home watching Florida play in ATL.

Ummm. I'm pretty sure we as "fans" don't have the responsibility of overlooking or underloooking a particular opponent. We should leave that to the players, coaches and staff.

Don't you have some lame ass "washing powder" joke to tell or is that someone else?

Look, I'm not naive. I understand why people would question my rationale in regards to another matchup with Bama. I've just seen too many games and been a part of too many teams where the underdog has somehow, someway forced a close game. I'm not saying we'll win, but I think given the opportunity Butch Jones and staff will have our team ready to play out of the gates. If it happens it won't be a replay of 10/15. And no it won't be worse.
I remember a Tennessee team that went down to Miami and was given little to not chance to win and they managed to pull that one out. It's amazing what a team can do when they feel disrespected.

I had that game on VHS for like 20 years. I don't remember the spread, but I do remember that nobody outside of Knoxville gave UT a chance. When Irvin scored to make it 7-0, the announcers literally could not stop fluffing that Miami team. Even Keith Jackson.

Sure was fun watching that scrappy-ass team of UT no-names break one off in Miami's a**. Not that I'm biased about it.

Hey...we can dream.

Go Vols.

Edit: didn't UT have backups at both corners for that game?

Not sure about the back ups at CB, but I don't think so. Keith Jackson and Frank Broyles were all about Miami in the early going.....then TN whipped that ass

Then you should remember that team had an amazing defense..... this year's team..... well ..... does not

Anyone in the T25. Tennessee just isn't a good team right now and shouldn't be begging for a team to lose.

What a wussie outlook, you don't want to play anyone in the top 25??? How do you think you are ever going to get there without playing them games. This is the SEC, you scratch and claw and never back down. The SEC east is in play, anyone that doesn't want to win the east because that means we have to play bama again needs to find a team in a lesser league to cheer for. GBO!!!!!

I remember that as well. This years defense couldn't stop my local grass cutter team's run game. Still I'm saying, getting there with a shot at it going in is better than parking our hind ends on the couch in 3 Saturdays watching Florida play.

Love the meathead fan mantra 'we are UT' as the ultimate rallying cry. We are also team that gave up 600 to UK, lost to freshman QB that may not have been old enough to drive, and has an injury list a mile long. We haven't been UT since the 2002 Gator bowl.

I want UT to win out and it would be nice for the players to get an SEC East ring but it is hard to look past the beating that will follow.

Getting whooped twice by Bama is not good for UT's public image and the loser of the seccg usually gets screwed by the bowls.

Truth. However this team is beat to Hell and back. Most of the players everyone agreed we depended on to make this a great season are lost to injury, and a couple more to stupid things. Even Bama fans would be worried if their trainers had as much of a workload as ours. Odds of winning a rematch? Insane.

That's why they call them upsets. It's not over. It wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, and it's not over now.

Using that classic from Animal House will always get a like from me.

If we get to Atlanta we should be running trick plays every drive, air the ball out, let dobbs be himself, blitz all day and just have fun with it. we have nothing to loose and nobody will give us a chance so why not treat it like a bowl game and have some fun.

Our defensive ends have no idea how to set the edge. This was one of the Generals musts for having a successful defense, but sadly it is Bama that has excelled at this for years while we can play the outside at a proper angle. Even if we do force the run inside against Bama, all they have to do is block a converted end and a pedestrian starter. 400 + on the ground against Kentucky - pathetic.

Since our chances to get a respectable bowl are gone after losing to USC, I'm fine with taking a risk of getting beat down on national TV again. I mean why not get embarrassed one more time. It's not like the 4th loss means anything.

You have to wonder if Butch will just lay down against Bama like he did in Neyland...it was blatantly obvious he wasn't even trying to win that game.

I'm in.. Even if we don't beat Bama I am always for a game in december not called the Music City Bowl. Before this Team thinks about an NC we first need to win an SECE title. Remember, Saban didn't even win the SECCG the first time with the tide. Not to steal a phrase from the Panthers but... Just keep pounding! If I recall we got our butts whipped by the Barn in 04 the first time and the second game played competitively.. WITH A RICK CLAUSEN at QB.

I completely agree that UT fans should want the team to win the SEC East. It's one of the goals the team had in the beginning of the season. So really there's no choice but to support the team here. But the comments I've read saying Bama would take the Vols lightly are way off base. If Bama beats Auburn, they'll come in undefeated with an SEC title and the CFB Playoffs on the line. (Yes, there's a good chance they'd go to the playoffs anyway, but not as the No. 1 team if they lost the SEC title game. I can assure you Bama wants to play the first playoff game in Atlanta, not Arizona. And they also want to go undefeated. They don't want to limp into the playoffs.) They'll be at the top of their game against the Vols or UF in the SECCG. The SEC title and the playoffs are huge incentives. Will Bama curb stomp Tennessee again? I doubt it, but I don't think it will be close. Probably somewhere between 14-21 points. Does that mean UT fans should want Florida to win the SEC East, so UT doesn't lose twice to Bama? Absolutely not. No good fan should want that. And true, anything can happen in college football. There's always the chance for an upset. Especially if Bama commits a bunch of turnovers, and the Vols get good field position. But again, it's not likely. But it's good to be in Atlanta and not sitting on the sidelines with the rest of the SEC East and West teams.

Might want to recheck that '85 record.... and the Vols were either an 8 1/2 or 9 1/2 point underdog in the Sugar Bowl.... plus that team was healthy and had an awesome D....... reality man.... come back to it

you are right I stand corrected UT was 8-1-2 those were the days of ties

Here is why. Imagine the crap we will have to endure when they beat us again. I believe the game will be much closer, but the outcome is all but guaranteed.

Don't want to hear the gumps gumping.
