UT fans no show, and I don't blame them

Do some people have to cry over every game? I live in Texas and paid to see that game last night pay-per-view. I'll admit it wasn't the prettiest game I've ever seen and the biggest surprise was the poor performance from the defense. But I'm a fan and I'm a fan when the Vols win, when they lose, when they struggle, when they blow people out, when they win when they should have lost, and when they lose when they should have won. There is an evolution to go from where we ended up last year to where Kiffin and staff is taking us and even with last night's not-so-pretty win, I'm excited to be watching this whole process unfold.

If you follow college football, there are these kinds of games for every single team. Whether we were looking ahead to Auburn or having an emotional hangover from last week, we still won the game and there were a lot of positives to come out of this. Jansen Jackson is a monster player and it appears Berry's legacy is in very good hands. We still run the ball as effectively or more so than any other team. For all his problems, JC threw some really nice looking passes for completions and drops.

I would've like to have seen us run the ball a little more but Kiffin's playcalling still has the other team guessing. We continue to be in the forefront of recruiting while 5-7 last year and 2-2 this year and it appears to me that this coaching staff knows how to develop players.

I love the direction and the imminent future of Tennessee football but hate the shortsightedness of fans and sportswriters. I think the weather conditions had more of a hand in the attendance than the fact it was the Ohio Bobcats.

I live in state college, PA and was at the Penn State/Iowa game (ABC game of the week), the whiteout, gameday......i spent the whole game following the Vols on my phone from the stands. I would have traded places with any media person in knoxville last night. Every time the Vols play, its worth being there...

I drove from Atlanta to see the game. Figured this would be the game with the cheapest tickets because of the opponent and the weather.

This guy is a total downer. If he isn't a Vol fan, why doesn't KNS find someone who is?

I had everyone back out on me last minute but I still made the 200 mile round trip alone to watch the game last night.

Im so proud & glad to be a true Vols fan, life is to short to be a "negavol". I drove 6 hours in hurricane leroy to see this game, and i got chills when they ran thru the T, and we won the game, period. People need to quit itchin with a B and start cheering !

Don't play cruddy teams? WKU was awful but Ohio is a solid mid-major and we played UCLA two weeks ago you seem to forget so its not like the schedule creators weren't trying. Schedules are done years and years in advance UCLA was probably planned to be a massive game plenty equal to Okie State or Arizona State. You're acting as though Bama did not play FIU two weeks ago and do not play UT freakin C near the end of the year. Guess who Georgia who played Okie State plays in a couple weeks? Tennessee Tech! Everyone plays these type games it would have been suicide to play an SEC schedule without games like this. As for the attendence, can you really blame some people for not drivng 5 and 6 hours in deadly driving conditions to see UT play Ohio. It's not as simple as driving across town like it is for you. I'm sorry people would not risk their families lives driving from Memphis to sit in the rain for hours to see UT play Ohio. You can go ahead and sit out the next one too and not buy it or go to it because the only people who would be sad to see your column go are the people who read it every week for comic relief.

I chalk the attendance up to the weather and state of the program. If it had been a nice early fall evening and we were in the top 10, there would have been 102k in the stands.

I was disappointed to see the sparse crowd as I watched on PPV, but it is what it is. When the program is back the place will be full; and close to full even with weather like we had yesterday.

The UT AD needs to start scheduling better teams than creampuffs like Ohio---fans can't get excited about these easy games.

We schedule at least 1 big OOC opponent every year, and its done years in advance. UCLA should have been a marque opponent. Check the schedule over the next decade, we have home and homes with Oregon, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio State and we're working on one with USC.

You can't play 4 tough OOC opponents each year with an SEC schedule.

Yea....that was nasty! Hope he is ok.

It was vicious (the Tebow hit), and I hope he is able to play the rest of the season.

On the other hand:

we shouldn't worry. We only have two more days left until he will rise again and then ascend into Heaven.

Griff, you like stats. How about this – Ohio’s defense is ranked 2 spots behind LSU and ahead of Georgia, Arkansas, and Kentucky.

(PS: Ohio's Offense is ranked ahead of LSU's)

I'm a "nobody"? Who knew. I sure felt like "somebody" when my team ran through that T. I felt like somebody watching JJ nail the other guy. I felt like somebody when the band played Rocky Top. I felt like somebody every time UT scored. I felt like somebody when Nick Reviez appeared back on the sidelines on a pair of crutches. I felt like somebody when the game started. And I felt like somebody when the game was over.

The fans were there Griff. You just don't know how to recognize one.

Nice counter point =)
