First of all, I want to thank VolNation for allowing me to join this site. I look forward to being a regular poster here and talking all UT sports with you guys. I'm in a tough situation right now regarding furthering my education and I am in dire need of some advice from people who have been here.
I am from a family full of Alabama fans (please forgive me) but I have always kind of been a neutral fan and just loved and followed religiously all SEC sports. I grew up in Alabama and always figured I would go to the U of A, but family conflict has prevented me from doing so. My parents divorced a few years ago and I just recently decided to move up here to Maryville to be with my mom and stepfather. My dad didn't take the news well at all about my decision to move up here at all. He basically said he will never talk to me again and that I can forget about him helping me with college.
He refused to send my transcript and and my information until recently so I've missed the application deadline at UT. I've decided I very much so want to go to school there and I am in love with Knoxville after attending a few basketball games there. I'm in a very tough situation right now and I need some advice. I will be more than thankful for any responses I receive.
At UT, is there a special admissions process of any kind? I'm more than positive that if I could talk to someone over there or interview with an admissions officer I could clearly tell them about my family problems and how badly I want to be at UT. The only problem is it is very hard to get a hold of anyone who can help. I've been trying very hard!
Do any of you guys know of any type of financial aid I could apply for this late in the process? My dad was the main person helping me with my college stuff but obviously I don't have him anymore and have little financial help.
For those of you familiar with Knoxville, are there any types of jobs that I could work around classes to help me cover tuition? Any information is greatly appreciated.
A great thanks goes out to anyone who responds. If you would rather respond to me by message, feel free to do so. I hate to post this on the football board, but I'm just a kid who really wants to get his life started out the right way and work to become a successful person. I do not have any support at all from my father's side of the family so I'm pretty much on my own with this because my stepfather and mother do not know a lot about the college process. I would like to add that I've met some very nice and courteous Vol fans at TBA and I hope that I, too, can become a good representative of the Vol family soon. Thank you all and God bless! Go Vols!
