On a rainy afternoon at Carolina Stadium in Columbia, S.C., the University of Tennessee baseball team (10-10, 0-3) just never could get the bats warmed up as it dropped a 4-0 decision in its series finale at No. 16 South Carolina (16-4, 3-0) on Sunday. The Volunteers managed just one hit off the Gamecock pitching staff in the contest.

And the bad thing was that the one hit was on a play where the Carolina pitcher slipped on the wet surface getting to the ball. For whatever reason, they didn't charge him with an error, but rather counted it as an infield hit. I wasn't at the game, just listening on the radio, so I didn't actually see the play.

Good luck the rest of the way.

Wish it would have rained the game out. This game reminds me of a line from the movie major league. One hit, that's it just one..............................hit.

I don't think you can charge a player an error if the field environment caused the error itself. Thats what Tommy Moody was saying at least. I thought it was going to be counted an error as well

This is just the start of the SEC season. Good luck to the Vols the rest of the way.

Our inconsistency could have easily cost us 1 of those 3 games (Game #2 when Tenn. rallied back) but we were able to keep our pitching in really good shape all weekend
