When is the last time that throwing the ball up 45 points was merciful? They should have been thankful everytime Nick or Jon dropped back.

Our running game was punishing.

UT's Qb and young receivers needed some work. I don't see the big deal with passing the ball up by that margin.

While I don't believe our staff will ever make running up the score on anybody a paramount goal, I don't believe mercy will be high on the priority list either.

Mr. Two Bits, you're a very dense individual. That post flew right over your head.

Perhaps I did miss something, but it hardly makes me dense. What I was trying to convey was it's football, you have to do what's best for your team. Screw mercy.

Well my neighbor,UGA grad/former military captain came over, first thing he says "Ran that score up didn't you", after saying the same thing to my wife and sons, etc. Of course I denied it and changed the subject to UGA's beat down Saturday.

Me-1----Him-0.

Went on to say they had a freshman qb that is suppose to be good.

Agree. And it was just instinctual for him. No hesitation, just fury unleashed.

Another thing I love about this staff is the constant motivation they provide. To get in BB's face after running out of bounds lets you know what this team is all about. I like it.

Yea Eddy Gran jumped all over his arse after he ran out of bounds with that weak stiffarm... lol. I saw that too. We want blood.

We went out with a completely new coaching staff, a field full of kids playing in their first college football game, and scored a bunch of points. That's hardly running the score up. But hey, what ever helps rivals sleep at night.

I, too, was wondering if this is the new staff's way. Perhaps Kiff is going full steam ahead for the obvious reasons, such as getting to see which players do what, what coaches do what, etc. I do wonder if in time, when Kiff is comfortable in knowing his personnel if he will slow it down when up by 35. We all know what the last staff would do. Kiff took it as an opportunity to get his 2's, 3's and 4's some reps at full steam. That's how it should be done. If the other team can't stop your back ups, that's their problem. The back ups have to have this for when its time to give the 1st team a breather or when injury bears its ugly face.

I loved CLK's comments at half.

"Should have been 35."

Legit.

When would Phil have ever said those words? Never.

It was good to see UT show the killer instinct for a change and go for the jugular, rather than trying to sit on a 28 point lead and let the other team back in the game.:thumbsup:

I'm sure that most of the WKU players came into this game wanting to know how they stack-up against an SEC opponent. Now they know. Maybe this will motivate them to work harder? Getting taken to the woodshed like that should make the Hill Toppers a better team in the long run.

UT didn't have a choice but to run up the score. If we kept it close, people would have said that we couldn't blow them out. Anything less would have been a disappointment. UT, coming in with a new image wanting to back up the talk they've dished out, had no choice but to show people they were for real. And even at 63-7 people were saying "yeah, but it's Western Kentucky." which is true, but 63 points don't score themselves. There was good execution, good playing, hard work that went into it. Yes, WKU was weak, but I thought we still played well.

Personally, I'm just sad we didn't get 70. Poole was just 6 yards away.

GO VOLS
