Again please someone tell me how great your defense is?! I know you all have some great players but overall not a unit as good as ours top to bottom. I love Reeves-Maybin, Barnett and Sutton plus Todd Kelly is coming along for a young player but that is it. Here are the stats through 3 games. I will give you OK to help with the tougher schedule but also ECU we had 4 defensive starters out. :boxing2:

I would say UT's defense is a solid B. Certainly good enough to hold UF's offense in check. Probably shouldn't look to see UF scoring more than 10 offensively on Saturday without significant help from their defense.

And we had 4 defensive starters out against OK. So ECU doesn't matter.

O'Brien
Gaulden
Maggitt
McNeil

between BGSU and OU, i think that's a tough way to start a season for any defense.

i think you saw more of what we're about against OU. we are pretty fast, we do get penetration from the front 7, and can cover. i expect the defensive stats to steadily improve as the year goes on.

the key is getting sacks. we missed against BGSU and just couldn't get mayfield down against OU. losing Magitt sucks. and the MLB must get better.

early struggles for the D isn't necessarily a surprise, not having that figured out by Season's end would be. the D could be the hero of the season before it's all said and done.

I hope it's not a repeat of last year's game (for more reasons than the outcome)... That was easily the most boring game I have ever seen in Neyland.

I know this seems like a copout but UT will never put up huge numbers under Jones. Once he has the lead Hi is comfortable allowing opponents to move the ball and perfectly content with no!ding the ball. I don't like it but that is what you ghe with him.

If you look at Total Defense, Vanderbilt is ranked #15 in the country right now (link), and we all know they are not a top-15 defense.

Stats are VERY misleading.

It's pretty clear UF has a defensive advantage in this game, but it's also pretty clear that UT has an offensive advantage.

And how all that plays out, is why they play the game.

So how many points do you predict UF scores against TN's defense Saturday?

at running back yes, passing game not so sure when you are supposed to have better talent. Passing we are ahead of you guys and as expected you all are ahead in rushing. Total offense you are 8, we are 9 in the conference.

So we shall see...I expect a great game. Can't be any worse than last year.

Might want to take a look at the power indexes of the 2 teams.
UT way ahead on offense. Florida ahead on defense.
anybody's game by stats.
Question is always, will UT show up?

Ummm, you are 8 and we are 9 in total offense rankings in the SEC. Defense isn't even close.

Home field advantage is the biggest thing UF has going for them, especially when you consider Dobbs' only road game outside of Tennessee has been at Columbia, SC. While SC can be a challenge, it damn sure aint the Swamp and they damn sure dont have a defense like UF's. If the Swamp is like it was during the Spurrier/Meyer era, that's worth about 10 points, not the standard 3.

You know Florida will win... Don't act like it's some big question mark :eek:lol:

To expound upon those points, Bowling Green and Oklahoma are currently ranked 1st and 6th, respectively, in passing offense (Passing Offense | FBS Football Statistics - NCAA.com), and 2nd and 14th, respectively, in total offense (Total Offense | FBS Football Statistics - NCAA.com).
