Is it just me, or do most teams we play set a season high for FG % against us.

We can all continue to act like yesterday's SC game was an aberration, but they shot lights out against us. So did KY and Auburn and UF and ......

That's what you get with the Tom Davis system. As a Bob Knight fan, one of my favorite games every year was when the Hawkeyes came to Bloomington. IU would shoot layups all day long. That style of press is predicated on the ability to force the opposition into turnovers early in the possession. Once you get into the halfcourt safely, getting a good shot isn't that difficult. That problem is further exascerbated by this team's lack of height and depth along the baseline. I don't think anyone is going to confuse this defense with the lockdown crews Tark had in the early '90s.

I agree hat, But I think it will improve over the coming years with guys like Tatum out on the perimeter guarding, And when we get more bigs with length.. I think it should improve.. Although.. Forbes was supposed to help us out this year in half court d. But, I'll reserve my judgment for a while...

When you press and go out on the floor in the half court to scramble guarding opponents, ideally you would like to have a big anchor inside to gobble up anything that gets by the front line.

That is an ingredient currently missing from our roster.

That's Dane Bradshaw you're talking about back there buster and his heart has been turning back shots left and right.

But other teams have run very similar systems to great success, but they had the ability / will to get back down the court and crank up the half court D when necessary. While the system is a contributor to our problem, I just don't think we have the athletes or the will to lock people down. We have one player, Tabb, who appears to be a good individual defender. I haven't really found another.

Tabb will be a lockdown defender by the time he leaves.. Ramar is turning into a pretty good defender. Lately, even Chism is defending better. (see LSU/Kentucky) It's gonna take time Papa.. Most of the time there are 3 freshmen on the floor and it also does'nt help having someone 6'3 guarding the 4..
