In 05, there was a window when UF picked Urban over SS and before Steve went to SC. That also JUST HAPPENED to be the year CPF went 5-6. When Kiffin bolted for USC, Spurrier admitted that he would have taken the job in 05, but that it was too late for him to take another job now. We all witnessed what SS can do with some talent; as Carolina played near flawless football---with some of the talent Tenn used to pull from that State. WE could have been celebrating a big win over bama--

Stop please stop...UF did not choose Urban over Spurrier, Spurrier refused to go back there...He was never even in the running for the UF job.

Pass....for everyone that thinks the sky is falling please go check out Alabama's 2007 season-Saban's first year. We are in steps 1-3 of about a 10 step process. I wish we were on steps 8-10 just like everyone else, but we're not. This takes time. Personally I think 2012 will be a nice ride.

It has taken CSS a few years to get where they are at right now. Will probably be the same here. If/when CDD becomes successful, do we think he would go anyother place to coach college football or would he stay here and relish in his success and think of the program as his baby since he started from the bottom up? Can UT pay he as much as anyother college program in the country? I understand this is a big IF.

Never did I ever think I would hear a person say this referring to junior.

And we could have lived in mediocrity as the Gamecocks have for the last 5 years. So we would have been on the same path. Give it a rest. They have not been relevant until this year, and we have a ways to go.

So, if you use the Saban 1st year analogy, you believe we will be 12-2 in DDs second year with a Sugar Bowl appearance.

Over his 5+ seasons, Spurrier has a losing SEC record at South Carolina and only one year where he had a winning SEC record. Is that what you want in Knoxville?

Well we know who follows the news and who doesn't.
UF asked SS for a resume, and; insulted, Steve told them to look in their trophy case. Spurrier wanted the UF job back, but the AD was friends with Meyer (he had hired Urban at Utah---away from Bowling Green).
You don't want to challenge me on SEC football trivia.
If you are getting back into College coaching, do you want the UF job or the SC job?

I just want to know what OP says if Carolina hits their late-season swoon and we soemhow luck-out on them at the end of the month.

Sure-if that helps you....but with how weak the East could be next year it's not out of the relm of possibilities. Of course, Bray would have to be who we all hope he is for this to happen-but we will not have experience or depth issues on offense next year. We have 2 guys right now that are of AJ Green and Julio Jones caliber. It looks like we hit on Hunter, and if Rogers progresses...imagine having 2 playmakers like that on offense?

Not calling you a liar, but I'd like to see a link to that comment. If he did say it (big if imo), then I'd want to see the context. Sounds like just another Spurrier jab.

What's his career record at South Carolina?

Don't be an idiot.

What's the record at UT since 05? Besides in 05, SC was irrelevant, and UT was still considered a power. The Vols still had talent; just lacked in the coaching dept.

Spurrier, Really?

I know we live in a what have you done for me lately world but it amazes me how people think like this based on one game. Good or bad. It's NEVER as good as it seems and its NEVER as bad as it seems. I.E. we are not as good as we looked against LSU, we are not as bad as we looked against UGA. The truth is always in the middle. I promise you SC is not as good as they looked against Bama. They have another loss or two coming. And even if I'm wrong...I wouldn't take 5 years of complete mediocrity for 1 SEC East title and a New Years Bowl game. Even Fulmer had a better track record than that.
