UT coach Butch Jones expects staff stability to continue

Jones may as well keep his current staff. If he did decide to replace someone the administration would not spend the money to go out and get a difference maker coach so he is better off keeping coaches he is comfortable with.

You said we should have been a bowl team. Implying their are 6 teams on our schedule that we should have beat. Name the six teams we have more talent than.

what does that really prove. we could have beat florida georgia and did beat SC. we are on there level and played with them, the only thing is they have more depth which right now florida and georgia don't due to injuries. vandy UK AP and south alabama should have been all wins. the south alabama game we played like vandy and florida. we looked unprepared and scared. there were 6 winnable games on the schedule and the sad thing is i think if dooley was here he might have got 6 wins if the team didn't quit on him. who knows a lot of could of and should of scenarios. don't really change the fact that a lot of volnation are negative toward jones right now and it is deserved. all we got were excuses this year. could have had that with dooley.

Dooley could not get 6 wins with a offense full of NFL caliper players how in the world would he have done it this year.

sun shines on a dogs butt somedays.lol i think dooley might have got 6 last year if he hadn't had brought in sal. regardless he was terrible anyway, but the point is we looked terrible with dooley and the same with jones. i can honestly say i don't see much changing in the future. this is not conference usa or the mac. this is the sec.

So our best WR will be out vs UK, that sucks. Well it seems we should be leaning more on the RBs for this game.

No receiver will ever make a reception ... if you never throw it to him. Croom, Carter, Johnson, give em a chance, Josh Smith too. And whatever happened to Blanc? Is he injured?

You realize, that KY has the worst pass defense efficiency in the SEC, with 2 INTs for the season, vs. 20 TDs allowed?

Please, do mix up the running and passing against them.

And no receiver will have the ball thrown to him if he still can't run the proper routes, at the correct depths, get open/some separation and/or actually catch the ball (Josh Smith are you listening?) when it is thrown to him.

I agree with your sentiment that we can't completely go away from the passing game... we need balance. But I think Bajakian completely shut down the passing game (other than WR screens) last week, when on 2 very simple routes, both Dobbs one time and his receiver (Croom) couldn't execute an easy pitch and catch and had both of them picked.

I'd like to see the passing game work this week, but I think we win this game by being physical and run heavy... right down Kentucky's stupid 3-8 throat.

Okay I agree the only thing that is going to change our current pattern is 2-3 quality recruiting classes and try to keep them in school. Then they have to be developed and that is what has been lacking the last few years.

It proves that he won four conference championships in the past six years with similar talent to his opponents.

Just curious, would you and sjt18 fire the coordinators this first year? And if so who? Who would you hire?

true i agree with that, it will help. I guess my biggest problem is with the coordinators. i did expect the team to come together at the middle of the year and they did georgia and SC. i know the schedule got harder after that, but just seems like there was a breakdown from the players all the way to the coaches. that should never happen.

that is a good question i ask myself. fire the coordinators would hurt recruiting which we need in the worst way. on the other hand i really don't think the coordinators can win in the sec even with good recruits. it's a toss up. i guess if you could get a big name coordinator then yes i would. we though at tennessee don't have the money nor will we force jones to, so it won't matter. like i said i just don't see brighter days ahead. i guess if i had to compare jones to coach right now i would say ron zook.

Given his resume and where he is currently coaching he should have no issues drawing top coaching talent.

Lol we should have went to a bowl?

Which team should we have beat? Auburn? Missiouri? Was USCjr a game we were supposed to win also? Find 6 wins on that schedule.

Seriously?
You don't think Vandy or Kentucky should have been wins 5 and 6?

What concerns me is that this staff could have rolled into Bama with a one loss team and should of had us in a decent bowl game.

Jones answered bluntly when asked by the Times Free Press if he anticipated any staff changes after the season.

"No," he said following Tuesday's practice.

UT coach Butch Jones expects staff stability to continue | timesfreepress.com

loyal to a fault ? we shall see

North not practicing
Freshman receiver Marquez North (ankle) didn't practice Tuesday, and Jones said Tennessee will use a "receiver by committee" approach to replacing his reps and production.

sounds like North won't be playing come Saturday
Im not a coach, but I worry about CBJ waiting too long to replace a staff member like he did with QB's this season(that mentality of we need to give Peterman another qtr to throw ints) Im all in supporting CBJ at this point...just hope he does'nt wait too long to replace an assistant if a assistant needs replaced at all.

i can say the apr scores and the recruiting are 2 positives for jones. i would also say the negatives out way the positives right now. the staff is terrible, and even if the recruits we are getting are studs I have a real hard time seeing the staff doing much with them. jones seems to be committed to the staff and that is fine, but at the end of year 3 if we are no better than 6-6 it will be time for him to go. i really don't see with this staff we will ever be over 500. i guess that shows how much faith i have in jones, but it is how i honestly feel. he can talk all he wants, but it didn't help him on the field at all this year. we should have went to a bowl.

Are you saying that because Coach Jones failed to take a bunch of freshmen and walk ons to a bowl game that he will fail to make a bowl game with those kids as upperclassmen and 4* and 5* recuits?

I would like to see Dobbs have a good receiver to throw to,he does need the practice

Apparently you haven't watched dobbs last couple of games, you must of only watched the bama game and thought he was the second coming of manning.. well let me brief you on dobbs, it got so bad that at the last game dobbs couldn't even hit a 2 yard out route, it would be in the dirt, over the wr's head, or to the other team..

I think Tennessee will be better off with most if not all the offensive line starters leaving and the entire defensive line moving on. All that experience has not equaled wins for the last few years.

Fresh facing not so beat down with losing will make a huge difference.
