On Sportscenter this AM the discussion was Kiffin being out as OC and Sark calling the plays blah blah blah and you can imagine how the talking heads were talking this up and Brett McMurphy goes......UT did it in 98 and it didn't affect them winning the Natty.

I said Boom! Get you some of that Bammer. We did it First!

Had dinner with a serious Bama booster this week. He confirmed Kiffin was out after this season regardless and his contract was up. Houston and others passed on him and the FAU deal was sheer desperation to land any HC job.

The mouthing off to the press was the final straw for Saban. Lane Kiffin just has a punk nature that he cannot seem to out grow. Sark should do just fine.

The funniest thing is that FAU is where he should have landed before Hamilton went crazy and hired him at UT. Then he parlays that into the USC job with no track record. For the first time, Lane will be at a lower level school where it all is on him to manage a complete program with no tradition and limited support. He is not quick enough mentally to be a tv analyst so FAU may be his long term destiny. Hoping all opponents run up the score and punk the punk. Sark on other hand may resurrect his career with Saban and get another major HC job.

Your first sentence in that last paragraph is spot on. Kiffin should have NEVER been hired at Tennessee. The argument about being Fulmers time to go can be debated, but hiring a proven loser was beyond egregious. UT was still very relevant nationally and nobody will ever get me to believe that Hamilton could not have gotten a proven, big time winner to replace one of the best coaches in SEC history.

Kiffin was a "press conference" hire for Hamilton. Kiffin wa s a hotshot up and comer. Add that to the staff he brought and UT got the "splash" it wanted at the time to diffuse the bungling of Fulmer's ouster.

This is going to ruin the team chemistry!

Who will they lock out of the practice facilities. Who will they leave behind at the hotel.

Who will Saban direct his ire at with kiffen gone.

It will kill morale!

Kiffin has a big upside available. If he can win 6 or 7 games a year in a weak conference they will start planning a statue for him. The best team in the conference (W KY) lost their coach and there is plenty of opportunity. Also Boca Raton is not a bad place for a single guy!

It would have worked out halfway decent (minus the looming infractions) had USC not come open.

Agree. The people that hate Kiffin were in love with him when he was here. They're upset with the way he left which is understandable to a degree.

I disagree about him not being quick enough mentally to be a tv analyst. There are a LOT of dumbazzes who are tv analysts...he may actually fit right in.

Kiffin is one of those guys that is going to always be testing where the rules really are. It would surprise me not a bit that he may have been semi recruiting some of the Bama kids not playing being red, blue, grey, and green shirted to come to FAU with him and being star players. Or perhaps spending more time doing FAU stuff than Bama stuff, expensing things wrong, etc. Big Nic found out and lowered the boom. Kiffin is gonna be Kiffin. That said Boca Raton is a helluva upgrade over Tuscaloosa. Every high school player in the state of Florida with character issues that big name programs will not chance will be at FAU, get ready.

I hated Kiffin when he was here and I was as happy as a baby tasting bacon for the first time when he left.

He doesn't have all the intangibles such as facilities, money, institution, history, etc... that he's had every where else. Do not see him succeeding down there.

Is this another Championship we can claim? If so, we gotta be well over 16 by now.
