What do you guys think UT's basketball record will be next year and how far we will get in the NCAA Basketball Tournament?

well, we play a pretty tough non conference schedule (Syracuse, Wisc., Memphis, Texas, and Oklahoma State, maybe more) and the SEC will be pretty good next year. Itll be tough but im calling maybe a 21-9 record somewhere around there im not really sure how many games we play, but i say 2nd round or sweet 16 in the tournament

i completly diagree. i think that we will go to the sweet 16. don't get me wrong but i don't think that we will go any further than the sweet 16. we crack under pressure in the ncaa tourny's. i am a vol fan dont get me wrong.

no way, we are losing our most key player in CJ Watson, from a team that barely got to the second round, we will be a tourney bubble team next year.

depends on how the freshmen play really, if we end up with some hansborough types we could be looking at elite 8, final 4 even, i guess we'll see.

The way we ended the season had nothing to do with "not being a good tourney team". We were not playing good basketball the last couple weeks of the season. If the UF game had been the first round, we would have made a run w/ that type of play.

Our guys were tired. They played their hearts out every night and I feel they wore down. Plus Bradshaw was not 100% toward the end so we lost on offensive threat there.

Pearl has proven elsewhere that he is a tourney coach.

Florida had a really young team with very little experience and the Gators had lost to a lower seeded team five years in a row.

And this year we are in the Final Four.

It can happen.

Our record next year is very dependent on which SEC players jump ship and head to the NBA this spring. If Thomas, Davis, Noah, and Rondo are all gone, then we should compete with Alabama for the SEC title, if they all stay, then we are at best a bubble team. We will have a much younger team and therefore most likely will not win the big non conference games we were able to win this year. Basically, unless the chips fall perfectly, Bruce year 2 will be tough as he builds this program into his program. However, years 3 and 4 should be incredible.

These opinions seem strange to me. Do you guys forget what Pearl did with this years roster? Next years roster will be MUCH more talented and MUCH deeper than this years. So, if he won the games he did this year with only a 7 deep rotation and guys like Childress and Howell getting minutes...imagine next year with a more talented, deeper roster. Might start off slower because of the need to build experience, but the difference between this season and next season is that next season we will be playing our BEST ball going into the tourney. Instead of wearing down like we did this season.

Next years roster will be better inside, but our backcourt is going to suffer greatly without CJ. CJ was a very good PG and created a ton of shots for both Lofton and Smith this year. I do not think that Bradshaw or Howell possess the ability that CJ did.

CJ will be missed no doubt. But, they will find someone capable of handling the point. And the playmaking responsiblities will be delegated more to Smith, Lofton, Crews, and the rest of the freshman. We will be so much better in the post and so much deeper that it will make up for it.

Yes, we will be deeper in the post, and one of my posts pertains to that...if Davis, Thomas, and Noah leave, then we will be better in the post, if not, we will be better than we were this year, but far behind LSU and Florida. Also, we aren't going to win as many non conference games early in the season, because our guys will be so young. So, we will have to win more SEC games, we will have to beat LSU, Bama, Arkansas, Florida, and UK to get in. Winning at Florida, Rupp, and Arkansas is a tough task for a young team. That is all I am saying.

:D I believe this year was a one of a kind year. Next year we will be tough. we will win maybe 20 games. we may make it to the sweet sixteen. The next year teams better look out for we will become a top team for years.

t's hard to really say what next years record will be at this point. Like mentioned before we'll be playing a VERY tough non-SEC schedule and the SEC is going to be very solid next season. Factor that with who we lost and the unsure freshman and it's hard to guess. I think we'll win 20 games and be a Sweet 16 team at best.

Can't see us sneaking up on anyone next year. Got a big bullseye on our backs. Better be ready to play every night. If the big name players go to the pros things will be a lot easier than if they stay. All in all, I think Coach Pearl will again make the Big Dance. Will make it to the third round. Another great season for Tennessee Basketball.

If I had said last year at this time we'd make it to the 2nd round of the tournament, I would have been berated.

How about we don't think about it until we actually ... see the team?
