I know we have a great band at UT but how do we rate in comparison to other SEC schools? I had a friend that used to be a trumpet player at UT named Lance Kennedy and I would come visit him at Tenn. and then go with him to UT when he practiced his trumpet. I would get to wonder the campus and it was a big deal to me because I live in Fla.

A few years ago the Pride was the best, hands down.

The Million Dollar Band at Alabama may have caught up with us.

The Pride is in the top three in the SEC, no doubt.

Nationwide, The Pride ranks well too. USC and Notre Dame have good bands, as well as Ohio St.

There's nothing like the goosebumps and teary eyes though when Rocky Top fills the air!!

in the spirit of all things UT being great...i'd say the Pride ranks up there with OSU, MIch, ND etc...

but to honestly debate which band is better....eh.

i'd say though, as far as pregame entrances go, dot the "i" and the forming the power T are two of the best things i've ever seen....

Our band totally outperfomed Alabama's in Neyland this year.

AIN'T NO BAND LIKE THE PRIDE. WE BLOW AWAY PENN STATE IN THE GAME AS WELL AS HALFTIME. PENN STATE'S BAND IS LACKING IN EXCITEMENT, LIKE THEIR FOOTBALL TEAM.

Not even close. The "Million Dollar Band" sucks. They were horrid this year. Of course, the Pride did the circle drill that game, so it was slightly unfair.

Our guys were far better than their guys tho.

The Million Dollar Band should get the award for "Most Annoying during a Game." Every time they come to Neyland, I am so annoyed by hearing Yea Alabama and Roll Tide cheers after and before nearly every play.

in the interest of fairness, i can't imagine it's enjoyable for our opponents to hear Rocky Top after every 1st down either........lol.

I love Rocky Top so much, not because I like it so much personally, but because of the satisfaction I get from the hatred other teams' fans hold towards it.

Not meaning to change the subject or pick on the down-trodden, but how many of you saw the vandy band this year at the UT game? The little cardboard "TNT" box and sprawling out on the ground like overturned roaches after hitting the plunger and some bottle rockets being shot from the scoreboard to open... then "bicycle tires" turning towards one another rather than in unison... in fact, I think 1/2 of them stopped playing everytime they changed formations...

And all right before the freaking circle drill by the Pride?!?!?!

OK, so maybe I am picking on them. But I can do that - I'm from here. Bless their little hearts.

Alabama changed directors a couple of years ago and I think they have really dropped off. I've not seen LSU's band since 2001 but I think UT and LSU have to 2 best bands in the SEC. After seeing both Michigan and Ohio State bands in the Citrus bowl...they don't even come close to UT.

I can tell you who is NOT in the top of the SEC, South Carolina. I made the trip up there this year and they were horrid. I don't mean to be mean but it was evident that they were not very good. Lines were off everywhere......half the time we coudln't tell if it was supposed to be a wavy line on purpose or if their "straight line" was off that bad.

Then of course we did the circle drill and embarrassed them even more. :dance2:
