Adidas hasn't been a very good product in terms of football. They are great at soccer apparel and uniforms. As I look at the landscape of Adidas college football uniforms...it's really underwhelming. Unless they do some major renovations when it comes to Tennessee brand...I'm a bit disappointed. I thought Nike did a really good job. I think this will be the case for every sport at Tennessee...

What part of design control resides in Knoxville did you not understand? adidas has also announced UT as a lead dog for them so why would they not go out of their way to hit home runs in the uni and wear marketplaces for UT. We are not stuck with afterthought status like at Nike. I am sure they are going to want to cherry-pick some other programs to join their dance card and change their market share. I doubt they are unaware of historical comparisons and will change operating methods to achieve that share.

Historical references are not relative till they are emulated.

For the Lady Vols, I do wonder if this has or will have any bearing on whether an Adidas-signed high school athlete, like one of the key 2026 recruits, "Big O," would be more likely to want to come to TN?

Be interesting to see how our design input on apparel increases or decreases the appearance of checkerboards, coonskin capped riflemen, tri-stars and other past design elements.

Is there a registered Vol Navy emblem?

I loved the star inside the O of VOLS stuff. Is that still available?

How will Lady Vol stuff trend?

Next few months will be interesting until they can Feature their wares officially as UT. Would assume they can jump into the open apparel market immediately to test the waters.

Guessing that each sport will have some flexibility.

Fun times on the way!

For the players, if they want to have input on design, features, or materials that they'll play and practice in, they'll be able to walk over to the UTAD and make those requests. I don't know if that's been the case under Nike.

Since this thread is in the Lady Vols Forum, there is one aspect I can think of that might be relevant to female players and recruits:

IIRC, Nike at some point came out in support of transgendered men playing in women's college sports. Apologies if that's not accurate. But if it is, I'm guessing that most female athletes might not appreciate that stance, and it could be made another selling point to some recruits in favor of an Adidas school.

(And I don't know... Adidas might have expressed similar support under the DEI pressure that BlackRock's CEO Larry Fink was exerting over corporations a few years back.)

Being the Adidas flagship program should give us an advantage at recruiting the top Adidas athletes.

Nike does not see us as a high tier program. I don't see any recruiting advantage among athletes who prefer Nike. Staying with Nike makes 0 sense.

It’s pretty straightforward, you go with the best financial offer. Nike simply couldn’t match what Adidas was willing to provide. If an athlete chooses not to attend a school solely because of the brand they wear, that shows a level of narrow-mindedness I’m not interested in.
