Am I the only one who cringes at how the team recites the maxims? They always sound like theyre just in auto mode, trying to rush through them, saying them as fast as they can just to get it over with. No conviction in what they're saying whatsoever.

This is very good. I’ve always wanted to be a fly on the wall at halftime. Glad to see coach Garner mention the self inflicted wounds and light a fire under their behinds. Hopefully offense and special teams work out the kinks this week, and that the defense we saw vs Pitt will continue.

Sorry. Its just something Ive noticed for years. Just a pet peeve, thats all.
Did you play sports growing up? I distinctly remember reciting the Lord's prayer before games and everyone speaking as quick as they can, almost mumbling. And then at the end we'd finish with an emphatic "yours FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER" then sprinting out of the locker room. I think reading the maxims is the same deal. They're hyped and ready to kick someone's ass.

It's probably sped up over the years to where it's become like a chant or a cadence. It's not how someone standing behind a podium would say it, that's for sure.

I understand what he is talking about. In high school we had to listen to them before every game. And they were always the butt of jokes about how our coach (ex UT) tried to use them. Too much of a good thing can be too much!

And talk about cringe worthy. Remember when Butch wanted to get the fans at games to recite them before the game! WOW!

Tell me you’ve never been in a focused competitive mindset without telling me you’ve never been in a focused competitive mindset.

They sound like men with missions. Sorry they aren’t doing it to your exact specifications.

Rewatched overtime just now. Did anyone else notice how choked up Heupel got after the win in postgame when he mentioned “When we took over…” reminiscing on him first getting to Tennessee. He almost started tearing up but held himself back. He cares man this guy is for real, the players love him and he loves them. This has been such a quick and dramatic turnaround and winning really does cure all.
