UT Athletic Department Surveys? Need Everyone's Input

The AD wants to know how they can input a better atmosphere at Neyland stadium.

They also want to know methods to increase the student population at games. Obviously there is an answer here that efficiently satisfies both but in the answer of "winning" you create a student population full of fair weather fans.


How can you answer the questions without just saying winning? Any Ideas? I'm going to email the responsible party with everyone's comments and concerns.

Winning is the answer. The diehards will go to games no matter what. It's the fair weather fans that when we are winning fill Neyland up.

Ok, I will not use the word winning. I think the people would pack Neyland stadium IF they felt we had a chance going into each game. When you go into a game weekend hoping to just stay within 3 TD's of the other team, the crowd numbers are going to suffer. Noone likes to see their team blown out. It's all about the product on the field.

A solid, well coached team that is fun to watch and competes every game.

bring back "Smokey's on the prowl" and the pregame reading of the maxims. Surefire winners IMO

Winning is all we need. No flashy activities make up for a losing team. We have everything we need for gameday atmosphere. Awesome stadium, the best player walk to the stadium in the country (Vol Walk), and the best band in the country. Another TV at the stadium or better food isn't the answer. Find us a way to return to the top in football again! That's the answer.

Aren't student tix expensive?? Expensive considering they were given out when I was there and a part of the student activity charge. Not technically free but kind of when your parents paid the fee and we could just go and get them. Also...do they still do student only tix?? Are students able to sell them?? If they can then charging for them is warranted, but at the same time don't complain about student participation when they can sell their tix for profit. It's gonna happen especially during down times both with the play on the field and economically.

In my answer I just said if you put a winning product on the field then the students will come to the games. It doesn’t matter if they think the student body is full of fair weather fans, they want the students to come to the games and create an electric environment. If you look at the Florida game, the students and fans were excited following the NC State game and they packed the stadium. If you compare that to the Akron game (yes I know different levels of competition) there was a noticeably fewer students. If we had beaten Florida, I believe that the student section would have been much more crowded. In the end I just want the athletic department to get the message that losing is unacceptable and until they fix the problem attendance will suffer.

We don't need a circus or a side show....all the tangibles are in place: great stadium, great facilities, beautiful setting, eager fan base, great traditions (running through the Power T is one of the very best in the country), great fight song, beautiful women, awesome colors....all any of us want is a competitive team that is fun to watch.

this. UT already has the traditions and atmosphere. You don't really need a bunch of gimmicks to get the students in there. You just need good, winning football.

Every concession stand inside the stadium needs to to be able to take credit/debt cards, rather than just cash. IMO

Honestly, though. Getting rid of the jumbotrons and the tvs would help get rid of the society crowd. I doubt those options are on the table, though.

Free tickets until the winning picks back up. Student discounts for concessions. Allow noise makers of some sort so the students can "participate" more in the games.....cow bells SUCK! Make it more fun and less expensive and they will come. Hell, when I went to school there, it was about GOING TO THE GAME, if we won great, if we lost, well, when is the next game. I think a vast majority of students would go more if it were more fun to be there.

I am a student. Tickets are 10 bucks for each home game. Lets start winning some games and everyone will be happy again.

Bring back jackets and ties for men, dresses for women. Who wants to look at all those gorgeous women in their tight shorts? It was much easier to concentrate on the game in the good ole days.

I honestly wish there was a way to improve the parking situation. So Carolina does parking right. UT is ahead of UGa. Tailgating is a key component to the pageantry and atmosphere of big college football.

I would rather pay more per ticket (yes, I said that) and not have the mandatory "donation." What the hell is a donation that is mandatory? I don't mind donating but it should be a donation and not a hidden fee.

At least put ATM's up right next to them.

As an owner of two retail businesses...I hate credit card machines and try eat up a lot of profit....

Bring down the prices per ticket. I know we're trying to pay for renovations, etc., but this is my 3rd year as a season ticket holder and the prices have gone up each year.


I'm not going to keep paying that for the product on the field.

HDDVR on a 52" TV + grilling & 6-pack > overpriced ass whippin'.

JMHO.

There is absolutely no doubt about that. Although tickets being free is a bit of a misnomer, when I went in the late nineties they were paid for in some other line item fee that was included with tuition. That is neither here nor there...

Game day was an experience. Everyone went. People used to line up at the ticket office, some even camped out to be first in line to get tickets (which I always thought was stupid because ticket distribution was random). It is sad to think that there are seniors there this year who have never seen a winning season.

I don't know how to fix it, I don't. But it is a bad state of affairs from my view. I don't think TVs or cheap food is going to do the trick either.

I agree, gimmicks are for losers. They are an attempt to lure the customer to an event that they would normally not attend or to "dress it up" so that those that plunked down the cash feel like they are getting more than they paid for.

We just want and deserve a winner!
