I think his decision with JJ will define his as the Tennessee coach. I think he had to keep them all or kick them all off the team. He looks like he is playing favorites no matter what the outcome if he keeps Jackson.

Now we know that Kiffin has also lied when he said that Tenn has had nobody arrested when he clearly knew the other kid had been arrested for shoplifting.

I wonder how long the powers that be at Tennessee will put up with this.

I am a BAMa fan so clearly I do not like Tennessee but I do respect the program. Like it or not Tennessee is a very tradition rich program and one of the top programs in the SEC and the country so I wonder if this thug mentality will continue to be tolerated by the gray hairs with the money.

Just a thought!!

Where is it clear that he knew Oliver had been arrested for shoplifting?

Was hoping the charged would get dropped.

Thug mentality? Seriously? I'm pretty sure players did stupid things under the Fulmer regime as well, and every other previous coaching staff. It happens. Just because Kiffin's name keeps showing up everywhere doesn't mean our program now has a "thug mentality" if someone has a run in with the law.

well, your entire post is wrong. kiff DIDN'T know about oliver until today. he wasn't arrested. he received a citation that wasn't made public by the police dept until today. at that point it reached kiff's desk. it had to work it's way through the system.
furthermore, if janzen is cleared of all charges, why should he be booted? that could seriously put the university in hot water down the road if janzen seeks legal action against the school. kiff is doing what is best for the team and the university. go back to worrying about the school that cheats and leave tn to us.

I agree.

IF they were ALL guilty of the same crime. Which it sounds like they were not, by all accounts given that we know of.

Sounds like JJ was guilty of being out too late with the wrong people and was not involved with the crime.

But don't you thnk Kiffin is acting like a thug, talking about boosting their street cred and crap like that? That is not how a man that makes 2 M a year at one of the best programs in the country should act.

UT does have a black eye from all of this.
Bama has had their black eyes as well, its not just a UT problem.

No, he should sit here and talk about how good Bama and Florida are. The traditionalist SEC fans are pissed that Kiffin wont coach the way they want him to. Kiffin, and Vols fans, don't care.

And nothing he has done is really any worse than denying he'll take a coaching job about 4 times in a week and then bailing on his current job to take it.

I think you are reading a little too much into that.

Since you are a Bama fan, your opinion does not count. You should spend your time worrying about your team and let Kiffin take care of his.

I think that was a joke when Lil Wayne mentioned his name in one of his songs. I don't think it was meant to be taken seriously.

Aparently the UT Athletic Department wants Janzen Jackson's charges to be dropped or reduced so he can return to the team in the future. Coach Lane Kiffin made comments about Nu'Keese Richardson and Mike Edward's dismissal from the team in order to "protect the team." Kiffin also speaks about the idea of a curfew.

Kiffin says No. 1 rule is ?Protect the team?; will Janzen Jackson return to Vols? GoVolsXtra

I don't think he is going to make it based on what I'm hearing... has had too many issues

Should he act like Saban and lie about not becoming alabama football coach? or just happen to run into that recuit at school in Memphis( he was there before the school was open walking down the hallway until he BUMPED into him) what a joke
