Know how many times Vandy has won 10 or more football games in a single season? Including the post-season bowls?
Zero.
Exactly zero.
James Franklin never did it. Dan McGugin didn't, either. It has never been done.
They could do it this year. Seven wins already with Auburn and Kentucky still on their schedule. That could get them to 9. Then a bowl game victory, and they make history for the program.
Could they get there in the regular season? Doubt it. They would have to beat us or Texas. They're not beating us. So it would have to be Texas. And while Vandy is much improved, and Texas isn't looking super impressive this year, I still don't think the 'Dores could make that leap.
Then again, they did beat an (over-rated) LSU squad (why are Brian Kelly's teams always over-rated? It has happened at every stop in his coaching tenure. Does he send gift cards to all the poll voters every year or something?). And they beat a badly over-rated Mizzou team (wins against Auburn and USCe should not have made those tigers the #15 team in the country, I'm sorry).
So Vandy have a couple of "ranked wins," gotcha.
Still, I don't think they're taking down Texas. And they're definitely not winning against us.
So they need a bowl win. Then, history books, baby!
Go Vols!
