UT and Tee getting lots of love PAC 12 game

Hate me if you want to,, but the Cuonzo Martin treatment perception is out there about Knoxville, UT and East Tenn as well..

Funny how Knoxville, East Tennessee, and UT are made into the big bad racist environment when UT had three big moves in race relations in the SEC.

Lester McClain was the first starting AA player in the SEC.

Condredge Holloway was the first AA QB in the SEC and remains a hero in this program.

We hired Wade Houston 27 years ago and we put up with 4-5 years of his losing program.

Counzo was headed to the trash heaps before the petition. But the petition did something he could not do and exposed his incompetence. He is the one who interjected race into the situation, not the fans.

UT, Knoxville, and East Tennessee are the real victims from that experience and shows why some programs are slow to hire Afro-Americans.

Just not sure how much of it is Tee since his head coach was an OC. I like Al Wilson but he can't be head coach of UT.

Nail on the head. The OC getting ALL the credit when his boss was a great OC. Whose game plan do these folks think Tee is implementing?

Now, Tee will probably be a good HC. Would hate to see him get a job a little over his head and then be hated at UT. He already plays 2nd fiddle to a guy that didn't win them a NC.

What's hilarious is that Tee is a "safer" choice than Norvell. Tee has the exact qualities as Norvell did when Memphis hired him - OC of a high octane Pac12 offense, relentless recruiter, and Frank Broyles Award Finalist. He's basically Tee Martin with 2 years head coaching experience and winning big at a place that hasn't done that historically. Orange colored glasses must be fun to wear.

There's a reason why he's not allowed to call 3rd down plays and only scored an 11 on the Wonderlick test. A very good reason.

If USC had lost last night and only scored 3 points I guarantee some would blame it on Tee and not Helton. That’s football. Players can make a coach look better (Dobbs) or worse (team 121) than they are. Winning football is an effort that takes everyone to click. It’s a volatile formula. One that Butch just couldn’t get right and then he stopped trying. Although I was a fire Butch promoter last season, I will say now that I wouldn’t be surprised to learn the admin was quite possible of hindering his progress.

Tee is a huge unknown. It’s hard to know what % of the formula to make it work is his. Darnold is obviously a big part and Helton has proved he’s a good coach.

Cuonzo lost all respect from me after he played that card. The UT fan base supported that crap coach way more than they have Barnes, and Barnes has more coaching knowledge in his little pinky than Zo has learned in his life. Cuonzo is soft, it’s why he leaves places every three years. He really knows how to protect that little ego he has

Martin never"played" anything. The media wrote about his treatment because it happened. His wife was receiving daily death threats and he never once said anything or brought it up. He and his family were harassed and threatened by racist "fans". Even while winning.

Martin was held to a standard other coaches here haven't been. Period.
1st year picked last SEC. Finished Second. NIT
2nd year picked mid pack. Finished fourth with the best player on the team out the whole year. NIT
3rd year unranked preseason. Sweet Sixteen

Barnes, who is a better coach, finishes worse with the same preseason expectations as Martin and is praised for finishing higher than last place.

So I would say someone who won and made the postseason every year, while being harassed and threatened daily by people using racial slurs was subject to some racism.

Be mad at the people who did it. Don't blame Martin for it happening to him and the media for reporting it. WHEN IT REALLY HAPPENED!!
