Yeah, we know VBN, they are better than us, but here it is on paper

Yards per game
Bama: 444
Vols: 392

Passing yards
Bama: 1327
Vols: 1254 (Good, considering the terrible games Crompton has had)

Rushing yards
Bama: 1341
Vols: 1102

Defense

Rushing yards allowed

Bama: 394
Vols: 661

Passing Yards allowed

Bama: 929
Vols: 971

Total yards allowed avg per game

Bama: 220
Vols: 272

Actually, kind of even with the edge to Bammer

If we don't throw the ball like we did last week, and rush for at least 100+ yards we're going to be looking at a 3-4 record

They contain the bama backs and make them throw more than they want we could get a couple turnovers . That said we beat georgia and not a top 5 team so 3-4 is better than 2-5 and I feel like the VOLS have a decent shot at every game after bammer and I think bammer could happen as well . NOT SAYING WE ARE GOING TO BLOW BAMA OUT BECAUSE WE PLAYED WELL AGAINST GEORGIA !! Bammer is good real good and they have a good coach who knows that this game is a big deal . I am not sure CLK cares as much about bama as he does uf and ug. Good post VolsByNature .

Considering how bad our offense has been at times this season...and the turnovers we've given up..from a purely defensive standpoint I bet we are even, maybe slightly better. That doesn't change what is on paper though.

Has Bama played a legit defense yet this year? Their offensive numbers seem high considering the offense they run.

I think that if we come in and play with the same intensity and physicality that bama plays with, WE WILL KEEP IT CLOSE either a 3,4,or 7 point loss.

As a fan I am predicting 24-14 UT win.

As a betting man, I would reverse those scores.

True. But I think that will be the stat that would kill us. Hope it doesn't.

Depends mostly on our offense. I think from a defensive standpoint we have the personnel and scheme to get it done.

If it turns into a slugfest with our defense on the field as much as it was against Auburn it is going to get ugly late in the game.

I think the most important factor is our poor special teams coverage vs. Javier Arenas (spelling?)

Watched the Tide vs Ole Miss game twice. Tide's defense looked great. Crompton likes to roll out of the pocket and does well passing from there. I don't believe Ole Miss doing that much.

take note of bama vs south carolina this weekend....the gamecocks have a good physical defense and will likely prove to be bamas toughest test so far this year..bama should win, but it may take alot out of them physically heading into our game the following week..

Compare those stats to the competition, and we match up pretty even. They have an edge in the stats, but we've played better competition. Much better.

I want to see special teams improve after the bye. There is no excuse why they should be so bad. IMHO, the Special Teams will either make or break us vs Bama. They are dangerous. I hold my breath everytime we kick the ball off or punt it. I shouldn't have to. That is one major thing I think we will all be looking for vs Bama

bama is replacing, i think, 3 starters on their OL... an our defensive front 4 is legit. this is the most important aspect of the game. can we control the line on defense? if yes, it's a VERY close game, if not then it'll be a long day. hopefully, special teams coverage improves a lot from georgia to the bammer game
