Agreed. If we had a QB who could hit the deep ball we would've been 11-1 and maybe 12-0 last year. Definitely would've beaten UF and Bama by multiple scores. Not saying we would've won it all because OSU really started to play up to their talent in the playoff, but we would've gotten a first round bye and better seed for sure.

Absolutely right.

Nico only threw for 5 (FIVE) TDs in the 7(seven) SEC games not named Vanderbilt. Less than 1 TD per game. Even after we blew out Vandy and he somehow threw for 4TDs....he STILL ONLY had 9TDs in 8SEC games. Thats crap and we should have beat Arkansas and blown out Bama AND Flarda IF he could just hit the WIDE open WRs streaking down the field. I think Joey puts up better numbers than nico did by 20%plus in TDs and yardage. Nico only threw for 200 yards in a handful of games. Ridiculous. GO VOLS

As I posted in another thread--if Aguilar can hit Nico's 2024 numbers (2700 yards passing, 20 TD/ 5 INT) we may be looking at another 10-2 season with a playoff berth. Cautiously optimistic, but unless Joey completely balls out this team will be run heavy/good defense again this season. Aguilar simply has to keep it between the ditches and not cost us any games.

The ESPN halftime interview with Billy Napier said it all. When asked about Florida doing a good job controlling Dylan Sampson, Napier relied “we’re gonna make the QB beat us”.

Could've happened if we were able to stretch the field with the long ball. Our receivers regularly got separation against our opponents' DBs and Nico would overthrow them. Definitely beat Arkansas, possibly Georgia and maybe whomever we faced in the SEC title game. It's coulda woulda shoulda at this point.

You and I watched two different teams last year. Go back and watch the Alabama game. We could've won that game by 3 scores if Nico had a modicum of downfield accuracy. Same with the OSU game. We may not have won, but we had wide open receivers in that game too that Nico either didnt see or couldnt connect with. At least we could've prevented getting completely embarrassed on national TV.

I'm not taking anything away from Golesh. He's great and if Huepel ever left for some reason, he would definitely be on my list of coaches to consider. But who we had at QB the last two years absolutely has had an impact on our offensive production. We are overselling Golesh's impact and underselling Hooker's. Unlike the RB position, QB is NOT just plug and play in Huepel's offense. They have to have very specific attributes to truly make that offense run at max capacity. We just haven't had that since Hooker graduated.
